Title: A Thousand Letters
Author: Staci Hart
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 9, 2017
Blurb
Sometimes your life is split by a single decision.
I’ve spent every day of the last seven years regretting mine: he left, and I didn’t follow. A thousand letters went unanswered, my words like petals in the wind, spinning away into nothing, taking me with them.
But now he’s back.
I barely recognize the man he’s become, but I can still see a glimmer of the boy who asked me to be his forever, the boy I walked away from when I was young and afraid.
Maybe if he’d come home under better circumstances, he could speak to me without anger in his voice. Maybe if I’d said yes all those years ago, he’d look at me without the weight of rejection in his eyes. Maybe if things were different, we would have had a chance.
One regretted decision sent him away. One painful journey bought him back to me. I only wish I could keep him.
*A contemporary romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion*
About Staci Hart
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, even though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.
From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's sleeping, cleaning, or designing graphics.
Review
**5 stars**
First things first, prior to starting this book make sure you have tissues
handy. You'll need them. I try to avoid books that tend to be on the more
emotional end of the spectrum, but Staci wrote it, so I knew it would be
amazing. It was so much and more. There are so many emotions that I felt as I
read this book. My heart broke, my heart healed, I laughed, I cried- it all
happened. Staci wrote an amazing story that I couldn't have fallen in love with
even more than I did already. It captured my attention from page one and I
couldn't put it down until I finished.
Elliott and Wade's story is one people can connect with on a real level due to
pride, fear and a little bit of grief. Elliott's best friend is Wade's younger
sister, which makes their situation even messier than one would prefer, add a
breakup to the mix and the family knows not to mention the other in front of
them. After being apart for 7 years, they are forced to see each other when a
terribly painful situation arises. As you read you learn how painful their own
personal situation with each other truly is and being forced to lean on each
other and the rest of family. You read their story and feel the grief that's
still there for the relationship that they haven't moved on from.
Elliott's character deserves happiness, as she hasn't had much of it in her
life. She gives her all to her niece and nephew because it gives her a reason
and purpose, even if her sister doesn't seem to appreciate her. Elliott has
used this to fill the void that is still there and she hurts over with the
feelings where Wade is concerned. Wade on the other hand has buried the
problem, he ran away from it and replaced it with anger. He never really dealt
with the situation or looked back on it as a whole to grow from it. Watching
these two together let's you see the pull that is between them. You feel the
love, grief, anger and happiness that radiates between them and you long for
them to get back together.
If I could read this book over and over again I would, but I don't know if I
could handle the emotions all the time, but I can tell you I've read it twice
already and I fell even more in love with it, I did use more tissues though the
second time. If you haven't one clicked this amazing wonder of words just yet,
I wouldn't hesitate. Go buy this book and fall in love with Wade and Elliott.
