Review
Logan by Jay McLean is a brilliant book about words that form together to create the perfect story of agony, passion, and hope. I felt this book deep in my core. Jay just knows how to dig deep into your soul and make you feel so much. I always say she is my favorite author and this book is perfect reason enough. She completely obliterates the written language to give readers a story that feels real and powerful.

Logan will blow your mind because he is not a character that we have heard much about. When you dive into his story it’s not your common story. It is grit and passion. It is surviving and existing in a world that is hard and at times feels lonely. I felt all these emotions while reading Logan. It was a totally different vibe from her other books. It had you questioning Logan and even Jay for giving us this book. It hurts to read the words and tears just streamed down my face during certain moments that were particularly hard.

Aubrey is a woman. She is basic, yet very much her own person. She gives this calm aura with a beautiful soul. She is the strength in a situation that is hard. I loved that this was as much her story as it was Logan’s. We got moments with her that truly define her character as astounding. When she was with Lachy, boy my heart went into overdrive. That sweet boy was just too good. I fell in love with him and all the Preston Punks all over again, and even Tom.

Jay McLean just slays this book with utter flawlessness. Logan is a book you do not want to miss this year. Grab it and read it and don’t let go of these characters. They are full of passion and realness beyond belief. Every time I jump into McLean’s words, it feels like I am living inside the book. That is what I strive for with each book I read and she delivers with every book.

[Review] Darkness Matters by Jay McLean

Title: Darkness Matters
Author: Jay McLean
Release Date: June 27, 2017
Format: eBook

It’s the same old story, really. Good versus evil. Heroes versus villains. Light versus dark. For two years, college freshman Noah Morgan lived his life somewhere in the middle, fighting darkness and light, always searching for answers to a single question:Why, Noah, why?The same three words keep him up at night, struggling for air while gripping a plastic cylinder containing white pills to match the white label with his name printed in ink as deep and dark as his memories—memories that turned him into a recluse. A shut-in. An introvert.Luckily for him, that’s not how the girl next door sees him.

**4.5 Stars**

There are so many different things I could say when I think about this book. First let me say the way Jay's mind works and lets multiple characters talk to her at once is amazing. She nailed every single one of these characters, I seriously can't stop thinking about them. I love a good Jay book, but this one? Oh man. I couldn't put it down. I had to know what was going to happen. I had to follow all the twisty spins you go on. I was sucked in from page one clear to the very end. I didn't see what was coming. I wasn't prepared for it. All I know is darkness matter. It will always matter.

[Review] Lucas by Jay McLean

Title: Lucas
Author: Jay McLean
Release Date: November 1, 2016
Format: eARC

In a sprint, every millisecond counts.
When you’re waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons.
High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don’t kill each other.
His saving grace? Lois “Laney” Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven.
A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage.
It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love.
Eight life-changing seconds.
It’s also the exact length of time it took to lose her.

**5 Stars**

"It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds.."

Jay is my absolute favorite one click author, hands down. If she has a new release coming out, there is no need to read the blurb, just one click it. Every word she writes hits me in the feels every time. She is amazing. Her ability to tell an absolute phenomenal story happens with every one of her stories. When you're reading you get lost in that world she has created; you feel as if you're apart of their world. Reading Lucas was no different and not only did you feel as if you were apart of their world, you were a part of the Preston family. Every word of this story is perfect. It grabs you from the prologue and keeps you going until the very last word u until you read "The End".

My initial reaction after reading Lucas was I wanted to smack him, I wanted to ask him what he was thinking, and I wanted to hug him. I felt for him. I loved reading his story. After the glimpse of him on More Than Forever, I found him intriguing. Reading his story gives you the full picture of how amazing he is an individual. I loved him.

Laney sweet, sweet girl. Jay did an amazing job writing her character. Like my reaction with Lucas, I wanted to ask what she was thinking so many different times. I wanted to hug her and just tell her it'd be okay. My heart hurt for her multiple times but in the end, I just wanted to keep reading her story and watching her grow as an individual. Seeing where she was in the beginning and seeing where she is at the end hurts you and heals you.

You also learn more about the family Preston family. This family is amazing. You see different aspects of the family and learn about how they operate and function. You see a bit of Cam and Lucy, you see Little Logan as a teenager. You fall in love with Leo. You laugh with Lachlan. You see with Liam and Lincoln that twin bond is a real thing and love them even more. Tom Preston is an amazing man and he has raised an even more amazing family. You get lost in the Preston family.

I hope we get more of this amazing family and the rest of their stories.

Review

Lucas by Jay McLean is a book that will make you go through every emotion possible. It will make you feel a million things all at the same time. You don't experience Lucas, you live it. Jay McLean doesn't mess around with her books. She will destroy you. She has a way with words and she is the best at it. She is such an incredible author that she makes you want to be in her stories. They are so brilliantly written that it feels like you are Lucas and Laney. Every sad and angst filled moment was a blow to the heart that killed me. All the happy emotions melted me as if I was experiencing it myself. With each book she writes and releases, each one keeps getting better and better. Lucas is now one of my favorite books this year. There is no doubt about it that this book has taken one of the top spots of all time.

Diving in I knew that I needed to prepare myself, but how can you prepare yourself for LUCAS?! Well the answer is that you can try, but that won't help you. You will still feel every emotions there is. I knew what was coming because we saw it in the companion book, More Than Forever, but I wasn't expecting it to have such an impact. It was overwhelming. That is there perfect word for this book. OVERWHELMING. But shame on me. I know Jay McLean exceeds all expectations, but this one takes the cake. This book made me feel like I was repeatedly stabbing myself in the heart with a knife. Stab. Stab. Stab. I still can't even process everything. My heart. My tears. My Lucas. My Laney. My everything. Gah. This is just too much and not enough.

Lucas was not perfect. I had no clue what he was going to be like but I did not expect what I got. It was perfect. He is flawed and amazing, and a big dummy. PERFECTION. I don't know how many times I wanted to just hurt him and open his eyes. There is not even enough words to describe him. Laney, was unbelievably amazing. She was an amazing character and possibly my favorite. The Preston brothers, all of them, were so much. SO MUCH. They were trouble, but even then it was like love at first sight. All of them are unique and amazing in their own right. All the other characters were good too. I don't think anyone is as amazing as Jay McLean and her supporting characters. She writes them so well. They serve a purpose and they are never insignificant. Major compliment right there. No one writes like her.

I don't think I will ever be able to stop talking about this book. I want everyone to read it. It is a must read book. I never have book hangovers. Ever. This book made me pause. Made me think about life and how important it is. This is a huge deal. I went a whole day and a half without reading! That just doesn't happen to me. When I finished a book I just pick up the next one and start. No big deal. Not this time. I couldn't do anything with my life because Lucas consumed every part of my mind, body, and soul. When a books does that, you know it's beyond great, it is life changing. Jay McLean is just too good for her own good. I hope she never stops letting the words flow because to me her books are the world.
