[Review] Hard Sell by Lauren Layne

Hard Sell
21 Wall Street
By: Lauren Layne
Releasing Sept 4th, 2018
Montlake

Blurb
He’s a Wall Street wolf. She’s been hired to tame him. From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne comes a wildly sexy novel of business and pleasure.
Twenty-eight and filthy rich, Matt Cannon is the youngest broker on Wall Street. He may be a “boy wonder,” but he’s every inch a man. Ask any woman—any night. But when Matt’s latest fling makes scandalous headlines, his clients get anxious, and his bosses at Wolfe Investments level an ultimatum: keep his assets zipped, get a “real” girlfriend, and clean up his act. Only one woman can help Matt with something this hard.
For PR genius Sabrina Cross, the best fixer in Manhattan, playing Matt’s steady is going to be a challenge, even if it’s just for show. They already have an explosive history, she can’t stand the cocky party boy, and worse—she can’t stop thinking about him. So who’ll dare to break her “no touching” rule first? Because when that happens, Matt and Sabrina’s game of let’s pretend will get so hot it could set both their reputations on fire.
“Layne can always be counted on to create an engaging, steamy, and thoroughly rewarding reading experience.” —RT Book Reviews

Review
Everything about Lauren Layne's writing is my favorite, so I was excited to know we were getting Matt's story! This book was just what I needed to get out of my book funk. It was funny and sweet, but it also had me questioning what Matt and Sabrina were thinking! We met both Matt and Sabrina in book 1 of the series, and I was surprised to see both of their names on this one! Neither of them believe in love, marriage or the happily ever after part, so watching these two was so much fun. They hate either, or so they claim, and when Matt needs Sabrina's help to clean up his image, you're dying at how they interact, yet try to resist how they truly feel.
I loved everything about Matt and Sabrina's story. It can be read as a standalone, but if you want some laughs, reading book one is an amazing idea.

[Blog Tour] I Think I Love You by Lauren Layne

They were "just friends." Until one tried to teach the other the art of seduction ... And became thoroughly seduced.

I THINK I LOVE YOU
Oxford - Book 5
Lauren Layne
Releasing July 10, 2018
Loveswept

A game of seduction between two best friends goes deliciously wrong in an irresistible Oxford Novel that brims with wit and sexual tension. Library Journal hails Layne’s work as “exemplary contemporary romance.”

Brit Robbins knows that dating in New York City is hard—she just hoped to have it mastered by age thirty. But after yet another promising suitor says they have no sparks, Brit decides it’s time to torch her dating game and try a new plan. And who better to coach Brit through the art of seduction than the guy who first gave her the “let’s be friends” card?

Hunter Cross has always figured there’s nothing his best friend Brit can do to surprise him. But Brit’s request is a surprise he doesn’t see coming—and one he’s definitely not prepared for. Hunter and Brit have always been careful to keep things perfectly platonic, but the fake dates and faux flirting are starting to feel like the real deal. And soon Hunter realizes he has taught Brit too well. Not only has she become an expert at seduction, the man becoming thoroughly seduced is him.

Oh, how I loved this story! I was so excited to know that the Oxford series was book. Brit and Hunter's story did not disappoint. There's something about friends to lovers that I just can't get over, this story was no different.
I've always been intrigued with Hunter since we first learned about him. Lets just say I feel hard for Hunter in this story. Watching Hunter and Brit interact was so much fun. Seeing them navigate Brit's request to Hunter was hilariously awkward at first and then the magic happened. There was something about these two and I think it was the strong relationship of friends that created their amazing connection and made their story perfect for them.
I couldn't put their story down. It was exactly what I needed when I started to read their book and had me out of my book funk at the end of it.

A sexy agent hounds Wall Street’s hottest new wolf in an exhilarating novel from New York Timesbestselling author Lauren Layne.
Ian Bradley is the definition of a Wall Street hotshot: seven-figure salary, designer suits, and a corner office. His drive off the floor is just as potent. Every woman who knows him has felt the rush. But now he’s met his match in Lara McKenzie—a woman with the power to bring Ian to his knees.
An ambitious, whip-smart daughter of FBI agents, Lara is a rising star in fighting white-collar crime. Her latest case—the investigation of Ian Bradley for insider trading—could make her career. She knows a scoundrel when she sees one. Ian fits the bill: a cocky, ridiculously handsome bad boy with a slick swagger.
She’ll do anything to prove he’s guilty. He’ll do anything to prove he’s not. But it’s only a matter of time before their fierce battle of wits gets oh so hot and personal. Now, taking down Ian has become more than business for Lara. It’s become a pleasure—and there’s more at risk than she ever dreamed.

“[A] playful romance…Layne populates her world of high-stakes finance with charismatic characters, and the fast-paced story works well with the simmering sexual tension between the leads…It’s easy to root for this couple.” Publishers Weekly

Review
Oh man, Lauren Layne has done it again. I have a feeling the 21 Wall Street books are going to be some of my favorites. Hot Asset is one of my favorite books of Layne's to date and I can't help but wanting to go back and read it again already.
Right off the bat, we meet manwhore Ian. He's a Wall Street egotistic, who isn't afraid to brag about how good his life is. The only problem? There is more to Ian than you think there is. There's a side to him you aren't prepared for. But it made him even better. Okay, back to his manwhore ways...most women can't resist him and one look at him and they fall... until the woman he meets in the company coffee lounge.
Lara Mckenzie, oh how I loved her! This power house of woman was just what I needed. She's gorgeous, she's strong, she resists all of Ian's comments and kindly tells him, she isn't interested. Lara has a job to do... she's a SEC investigator, investigating Ian. Oh, did the story get good at that point.
Everything about Ian and Lara was perfect. I couldn't help but love watching navigate their attraction, their complicated situation and how they achieved their happy ending. I can't wait for book 2 in this series of standalones.

[Blog Tour] Runaway Groom by Lauren Layne

“Lauren Layne gets the red rose for this one, and fans of The Bachelor will fall in love with this thoroughly charming story.”Kate O’Keeffe, bestselling author

RUNAWAY GROOM
I Do, I Don't - Book 2
Lauren Layne
Releasing Jan 30, 2018
Loveswept

For one charming playboy, getting cast on a Bachelor-esque reality TV show is the shock of a lifetime—until he finds love where he least expects it.

Gage Barrett’s reputation as a ladies’ man has been greatly exaggerated, but none of that matters after a drunken bet lands him on Jilted, a reality TV show that matches runaway grooms with wannabe brides. Now he’s stuck at a Hawaiian resort with nineteen women competing to drag him back to the altar—and one contestant who’s even more miserable than he is. Gage has no idea how feisty, independent Ellie Wright wound up in the cast, but it’s obvious she hates his guts. And if there’s one thing Gage likes, it’s a challenge. . . .

Ellie can’t believe she let her best friend talk her into exchanging her dignity for a glorified bikini contest. Still, she could use the exposure—her business is struggling—and she’ll probably be one of the first to get eliminated anyway. But Gage isn’t the shallow jerk Ellie anticipated—and he’s in no rush to send her home. As stolen kisses turn into secret trysts, she finds herself losing track of what’s real and what’s for the camera. With the wedding finale looming, this runaway groom is tempting Ellie to start believing in storybook endings.

**4.5 Stars**

I love everything that Lauren Layne gives to us. Runaway Groom was no different. There is something refreshing about Gage and Ellie. Their story was fun and full of laughter. Gage didn't want to do a bachelor type show, but somehow he lost a best and we were given an amazing story of two unlikely people who fell in love.

Ellie never thought she'd be competing to win a man's heart on national TV, let alone have it be Gage. But here she was, being number 21 thanks to her mom and best friend/business partner. I loved Ellie. She wasn't your typical female that one would picture going on a reality TV show. I think that's why I loved her even more. Gage wasn't what I was expecting either. The traits that make me think of a typical actor when picturing an actor, but I was pleasantly surprised at how wrong I was about him.

Gage and Ellie were refreshing. They were funny and they were just what I needed to get me out of my book funk. I can't wait for more from Lauren Layne.

[Review Tour] Ready to Run by Lauren Layne

Named Best Book of the Month by Amazon and iBooks

READY TO RUN
I Do, I Don't #1
Lauren Layne
Releasing Aug 22, 2017
Loveswept

The Bachelor meets The Runaway Bride in this addictive romance novel about a reality TV producer falling for her would-be star: a Montana heartthrob who wants nothing to do with the show.

Jordan Carpenter thinks she’s finally found the perfect candidate for Jilted, a new dating show about runaway grooms: Luke Elliott, a playboy firefighter who’s left not one but three brides at the altar. The only problem? Luke refuses to answer Jordan’s emails or return her calls. Which is how she ends up on a flight to Montana to recruit him in person. It’s not Manhattan but at least the locals in Lucky Hollow seem friendly . . . except for Luke, who’s more intense—and way hotter—than the slick womanizer Jordan expected.

Eager to put the past behind him, Luke has zero intention of following this gorgeous, fast-talking city girl back to New York. But before he can send her packing, Jordan’s everywhere: at his favorite bar, the county fair, even his exes’ book club. Annoyingly, everyone in Lucky Hollow seems to like her—and deep down, she’s starting to grow on him too. But the more he fights her constant pestering, the more Luke finds himself wishing that Jordan would kick off her high heels and make herself comfortable in his arms.

**4.5 Stars**

I love everything Lauren Layne writes and gives to us readers. Ready to Run was no different and I might dare say it's my favorite LL book to date! The chemistry between Jordan and Luke is off the charts and watching them fight it until they no longer can was my absolute favorite.
Jordan Carpenter is on a mission. Securing her runaway groom for a new TV series leads her to a small town and the runaway groom with attitude. Watching Jordan do everything she can to get Luke to agree to the show is perfect. The tension this causes between these two only adds to the small town gossip that they are perfect for each other, they just don't know it yet.
Luke Elliott has been portrayed as a runaway groom leaving three separate brides at the alter. He has kept a low profile and hasn't really dated since bride 3. Enter Jordan and her need to get him on a TV show. Will Luke agree or will he do anything to get Jordan to back off?
Watching these two was amazing. I loved everything about them and the chemistry they had together. I can't wait for book 2 in this new series!
