BLURB
The night I met Greer Palmer was no coincidence.
The plan was perfect.
Everything was in place. All I had to do was get her attention and the rest would take its course.
What I didn’t plan was my reaction the first time she spoke.
“Are you okay?”
Three little words…
That’s all it took for her to steal my breath and shatter every thing I’d expected.
She was supposed to be a spoiled socialite, a pampered princess, an elite heiress— anything other than the striking beauty that blew my misconceptions to pieces.
One kiss and I became obsessed.
One night and I became addicted.
One month and she became my world.
Suddenly, my plan wasn’t so perfect.
To her, I am sunset kisses, whispers of seduction, and promises of forever.
It’s all a lie…
I’m Lawson Hall.
My name and reputation speaks for itself as one of the most successful architects in the industry. Conceited, arrogant, egotistical, ruthless— I’ve earned it all.
In reality, I’ve bided my time, done my job, and waited my turn.
Now is my chance.
Greer thinks we met by accident, but she’s wrong.
Once the lies are exposed, will the truth be enough?

EXCERPT
“Don’t.” I pull her closer, brushing my lips against hers. “You want to know something, ask.”
She nods and resumes scraping lightly on my cheeks.
“Here’s another tidbit of information. I’m in no rush to introduce you to my brother. He’s a lady’s man, and he’ll have no problem trying to snatch you from right under my nose. I’m not an idiot and know a good thing when I find it.”
She giggles, the sound breaking any tension from earlier.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“I’m smart.”
“If you had a rough day, we don’t have to go out.”
“I’m tempted to keep you here like this, especially looking like you do. But I thought you wanted to meet your friends for drinks.”
“What’s wrong with the way I look?”
I make a point to sweep my eyes slowly over her face, neck, shoulders, and chest, stopping when I hit her low-cut neckline. “Your tits are about to burst out of your top.”
“They are not!” She swats me playfully.
I cock an eyebrow at her. “Pretty sure every man that sees you tonight is going to think the same thing. Do me a favor and don’t make any sudden movements.”
“Now, you’re being silly. This top doesn’t show that much cleavage.”
To make a point, I lean in and skim my lips along the edge on the fabric, stopping at the lowest point and darting my tongue out to touch her skin. She inhales sharply.
“Now, do you see my point?"

REVIEW

When I started reading the story, I'll admit, I wasn't sure what I was reading. I was curious to see where the story went. The title FAT CAT LIAR threw me off, but I knew that I would love it because Ahren wrote it. That being said... oh, how I loved Greer and Lawson. I seriously couldn't get over their story or their connection.
Greer is an amazing female lead. She's fierce, she's beautiful, and she knows what she wants. She isn't what people expect her to be, which I think made her character even better. She loves those that are important to her fiercely and protects her family wealth perfectly.
Lawson on the other hand? He's arrogant, but he's also caring. He has this side to him you aren't expecting. He loves hard, so man does he love hard. Head over heels, hard. It was beautiful to watch. But, that arrogant side is also present and it makes you want to smack him.
Their story wasn't typical for me. It's a rollercoaster of emotions- love, heartache, liars, and starting over. One minute you're laughing at how beautiful their story is and how they are together and the next minute you're wanting to go smack Lawson for being a butt.
I couldn't help but love every part of their story. It was perfect for them and made their story so much more unique and fitting.

I pushed open the door and immediately threw off my jacket, followed by my shirt. Then I addressed my skirt. I heard chuckling.   My hands froze on my skirt’s zipper. I looked up.   Nixon lay across my bed. “Please, don’t let me interrupt. Continue.”   I flipped him off.   He laughed harder.   I quickly pulled on the tank top I’d worn to bed and thrown across the chair. “What do you want?”   “Not sex, but thanks for the offer.”   “I was not…” I took three deep breaths. Arguing got me nowhere with Satan. “Why are you here?”   “Waiting for my sister. What else?”   I exhaled in relief.   “What, you disappointed I didn’t want an afternoon screw?”   “Not at all.” I sat far far away on Monroe’s bed. “Besides, if you needed one, all you’d have to do is knock on any door on this floor. Just be sure to use protection. I know how you are about germs.”   “Only yours,” he sang.   I threw a pillow in his direction, hoping to smack him in the face. He caught it mid-air and scowled. “Can you at least wait for her outside?”   “Nope.”   “Why?” I ground my teeth together. At the rate I was going I would have nothing left to grind.   “Because, I like your bed. It’s comfortable.”   “It has my germs and I swear to you I drooled all over my pillow last night.”   He shrugged. “I only hate germs on people, not objects.”   Nixon looked at his watch then put his hands behind his head and closed his eyes.   “Why?”   “Why what, Farm Girl?”   “Why don’t you like people touching you? Is that your rule or an Elite thing?”   “You ask a lot of questions for someone so stupid.”   That stung, but I was too tired to let it sink too far into my consciousness. “It is the only way to find out how to survive in this place.”   “You’ll survive, if you follow the rules. I thought I told you that.” He propped up on his elbow. “The system works, Trace. I know you think I’m an asshole, but if I was nice, they would eat you alive. Wouldn’t you rather I do the tasting?” He smirked.   Damn, I was literally itching to punch him in the jaw.   “Why can’t everyone just be nice and get along?”   He groaned into his hands and stood. “Maybe I will wait outside.”   “You do that.”   He walked to the door and then stopped. “Has anyone made fun of you today?”   “Is this a trick question?” I asked, jumping off Monroe’s bed. “You make fun of me all the time!”   “Other than me.” He shoved his hands into the pockets of his slacks. “Tell me the truth.”   “N-no,” I stuttered. “No one made fun of me today[ce1] .”   “I guess my point is made.”   “The hell it is.” I bent down and picked up another pillow to throw at his face. “You think you have that much power? To protect me from them? You think you’re that much better? That what you do is better than what typical college kids could do to me?”   His eyebrows rose. “Care to make a wager?”   “Fine!” I poked him in the chest.   Nixon closed his eyes as if in pain. “Please don’t touch me.”   I backed off but only because he’d said please.   “I’ll stop bothering you…but when I win—when you can’t take it anymore—when you are living in hell every single day, I want to hear it from your lips. Not Monroe’s, not Chase’s. I want you to approach me. I want you to tell me…”   “Tell you what?” I whispered.   “That you need me.”   “When hell freezes over!” I snapped.   “Bring a parka, because life’s a bitch and you just bought a first class ticket, sweetheart.”   I was still in a crappy mood when Monroe finally arrived. True to his word, Nixon sat outside, at the door, waiting for her. Why he didn’t text her or call her I have no idea.   I couldn’t really hear what they were saying. But Monroe was yelling, and Nixon was yelling, and I was pretty sure one of them was going to throw a punch.   So I was really surprised when Monroe bounced into the room with a wide smile on her face. “Guess what!”   “You killed your brother?”   She rolled her eyes. “I’m not that lucky, no.” With a huff she sat on her bed. “The Elect are throwing a party tonight and I get to bring you!”   Excuse me while I pull out my pom-poms. “Swell.”

[New Covers and Huge Sale] By His Game Series by Emma Hart

  bhg sale ig compatible graphic

blindsided new

From Emma Hart, the New York Times bestselling author of the Game series, comes a brand new series where the game is realer, the tension is tighter, the sex is hotter, and the stakes are the highest of all… Two people. Two agendas. Two games. What happens when the out-there It-Boy of football meets the secret It-Girl of fashion? As the daughter of Hollywood’s sweetheart, Leah Veronica can’t even buy a coffee without finding her face on a magazine stand, so it’s no wonder she’s launching her first fashion line in secret. With it debuting at New York Fashion Week in just under a month, extra time in the spotlight is the last thing she needs. The son of the best quarterback the league has ever seen, filling legendary shoes as the L.A. Vipers’ quarterback was inevitable for Corey Jackson. So was meeting Leah Veronica—the first girl to hand him his ass without putting a hair out of place. Getting the handsome, prickly blonde into his bed becomes his number one goal. But getting the sexy, over-confident footballer the hell away from her becomes Leah’s—at least until she realizes the best way to do that is to give him what he wants. If only it was that simple. When Corey discovers who she is, and private photos of Hollywood’s finest find their way online, everything they thought they knew is thrown into disarray. And when secrets are exposed and hearts are shattered, they have to figure out if they’ve been blindsided by love or reality, and if it’s worth running the extra yard to win the game they never meant to play.

sidelined new final

Three people. Three motives. Three reasons. When the game leaves the field in the second book in the USA Today bestselling BY HIS GAME series and mixes with sex, lies, and betrayal, the future isn't the only thing on the line...   Macey Kelly has sworn off men. Unless they’re going to zip in and out of her apartment—and her vagina—quicker than they can give her an orgasm, she’s not interested. Finding out her boyfriend of three years got her cousin pregnant was a total confidence knock. Luckily for Macey, confidence is something she has in abundance, so all Mitch’s asshole move did was make her pretty cynical toward men. The last thing Jack Carr needs at the start of the season is for a dark-haired, sexy as sin, gyspyesque beauty to be consuming his thoughts. Football is his life, which leaves no time for girls. Unless they’re the love ‘em and leave ‘em girls. Becoming one of the best running backs the league has ever seen by racking up the yards is his top priority… not bedding Macey Kelly, despite her affinity for blow jobs and total sexual abandon. Avoiding each other is the perfect solution, but when your best friends are in a serious living together kind of relationship, that isn’t always an option. Sometimes, sex on tap is the easiest option. And the sweetest. Until Mitch shows up with a bombshell that could shatter Macey’s perfectly carved out life. It’s been a year, but he isn’t giving her up, not now he has a chance at winning her back. And he knows her buttons. Every single one of them. Unfortunately for him, Jack Carr isn’t a loser. The star running back has his eye on the Vince Lombardi—and on Macey. But seeing her hanging between them both isn’t something he’s down with, not when he discovers why she’s so against anything more-ish, as she puts it.Macey quickly realizes she’s the ball being passed between two desperate yet opposing teams, and that only one of them can score the touchdown. But will the winner be the guy she lived with and loved for three years, or will the winner be the guy who understands her and makes her body come alive? In this game, someone will be sidelined, and calling the play isn’t always as easy as it seems.   (SIDELINED is a full-length, standalone novel. It's not necessary to read BLINDSIDED before this book, but it is advised.)

intercepted new

Four people. Four goals. Four endings. In the third and final book of the USA Today bestselling By His Game series, the rules of the game no one knew they’d have to play are blurring, and when the past becomes the opposing team, hearts aren’t the only thing at stake of being lost… Finding naked pictures of her best friend on her boyfriend’s phone wasn’t in Everleigh White’s five year plan. Neither was moving back to Los Angeles, the city of dreams that never managed to make hers come true. There’s only so many years you can be in love with your best friend before you realize he’s never going to love you back, after all. If only her ex would stop showing up at the gym where she works, she’d be much happier. Being a father at nineteen wasn’t how Reid North, the Vipers’ wide receiver, imagined his life going, but when his ex-girlfriend tricked him into parenthood, he accepted it. Eventually. Now, with his ex on the verge of being released from prison, he’s holding onto full custody of his seven year old son, Leo. Football and Leo have left Reid no time for dating… Until Everleigh comes back. His best friend his whole life, Everleigh never knew Reid loved her. She left before he could tell her. Now she’s back in front of him, and he’s not letting go. Even if all he gets is her friendship again. But in a city like L.A., dreams come true when you’re least expecting it. So do nightmares. With their exes beating down their doors with demands and explanations, their hesitant and building relationship is threatened at every corner. They’re at serious risk of being intercepted by the past, and that’s a ball Reid is determined to catch. Except desperation can lead to stupidity—and Reid soon realizes he can’t catch every ball, no matter how perfectly it’s thrown to him. This time a fumble could cost more than a few points. It could cost him everything.   (INTERCEPTED is the third and final book in the By His Game series and can be read as a standalone, although it is advised to read BLINDSIDED and SIDELINED before, in this order.)

NIXON:

I held out my hand to help her up.
She eyed it like it was the plague.
I couldn’t blame her.
Reluctantly, she took it, and I used the opportunity to pull her into my arms and carry her down the hall.
She gasped, and then the fight left her as she leaned her wet head against my chest.
And suddenly everything clicked into place.
It felt so right, having her in my arms, protecting her. I was half-tempted to growl “mine,” as professors watched us walk down the hall. I’d deal with them later, what the hell? A girl gets bullied that bad, and they’d just watched, sipping their coffee like it had been a normal occurrence. Assholes.
Trace’s hand pressed against my chest.
My breath hitched. I fought to keep the moan in. Touch from girls had always been something I loathed because it always seemed like there was a selfish reason behind it. They wanted to be screwed, they wanted to say they’d been with me, or they wanted my money. It was never what was behind the mask of Nixon Abandonato, but what I could offer them.
Touch had been made worse when I was little.
My father used to beat me within an inch of my life, making me shy away from any sort of human contact. Could you blame me for not wanting to show weakness? It just seemed better to hate touch — to hate pity, to hate everything — than show that it was actually a huge chink in my armor. The longer her hand stayed there, the warmer I felt, as if the heat from her palm was cracking through the ice, reaching into my chest and massaging my heart back to life.
Thump, thump, thump. It picked up speed, like it had been starved for years and was finally getting fed.

Excerpts

I see her wobble on her feet before she slowly tumbles to the ground. Her knees give out first, then the rest of her. It feels like I should’ve gotten to her earlier, but seconds of panic took place before my mind kicked into gear. And the rest is a blur.
Her friend’s standing over us while I rest her head on my lap. “Lucy,” I say. And it’s the first time I’ve said her name out loud. It’d been over three weeks since I’d learned it.
“What happened?” Logan asks her friend.
“I don’t know.” She’s as panicked as I am, if not worse.
“Is she dehydrated?” Logan picks up what looks like an uneaten sandwich. “Is this hers? Has she eaten?” I don’t know why it annoys me that Logan is asking all the right questions and all I can do is stare down at her. She’s breathing, so I guess that’s something.
He drops down on his knees on the other side of her and pours water from his bottle into his hand, and then he runs it across her forehead and into her hairline.
“Is she alright, mate?” Jake asks. He’s new and has a weird accent but Logan seems to think he’s cool so we keep him around.
Logan does the water thing again, and this time her eyes slowly flutter open.
And I release the breath I was holding.
“It’s okay,” Logan says to her, “you just passed out.”
He’s in her face now, and I want to punch him for being the first thing she sees when she comes to. I was here first; I was the one watching her when she fell.
It should have been me.
divider
“I hate that guy,” Logan jerks his head toward Jake and a new kid.
“The new kid? Dylan?”
He nods. “He thinks he owns the school.”
“Really?” I glare over at them. “Apparently he kills it on the basketball court, but I dunno.” I shrug. “He hasn’t said two words to me. He seems quiet.”
“Those are the ones you have to worry about, Cam. The quiet broody assholes get all the girls. Better watch him around that new girl of yours.”
I play dumb. “What new girl?”
“Shut up, asshole. You don’t think I notice you watching her all the fucking time?”
I lift my chin. “I think if there’s an asshole in this entire school to watch out for, it’s you.”
He laughs and adjusts his cap. “You don’t need to worry about me. I’m not into stealing my friend’s girls.” He shoves his hand in his catcher’s glove and smacks my arm with it. “Say the word. Claim her. I promise to stay away and I’ll make sure she’s untouchable to everyone else.”
“I’m not an asshole and she isn’t property. I can’t own her.”
“If that’s what you want.” He raises an eyebrow. “She’s cute. In a couple years she’ll be hot. Guys will be all over her. I’m just trying to help out.”
I think about what he’s saying, and he makes a good point. Only he’s wrong—she’s hot now. “Fine. I claim her. She’s mine.”
His smirk is instant. “You can’t own someone, you pig. She isn’t property.”
I laugh. “Fuck you.”
Jake struts over to us. “Ya reckon that new kid Dylan can hang out with us this arvo? He seems like a top bloke.”
Logan’s gaze moves to me, confusion clear on his face. I shrug. He lets out a chuckle before gripping both of Jake’s shoulders and shaking him gently. He looks him right in the eye, speaking slowly and clearly. “I have no idea what the fuck you just said.”
