Layla Hagen has created one of my favorite series that I just can't get enough of. The Bennett family captured my heart with book 1 and the love for them keeps growing with all the books. You seriously just can't help but love this family. Alice and Nate's story was no different.
Alice is the quick witted, good with words, mother hen of the siblings. She is probably one of my favorites and I was so excited for her story. Especially after knowing she's had a torch lit for family friend, but this family friend was so much more than I was prepared for! It was a side to Alice we haven't seen before and that made it so much better. Alice's chemistry with Nate is off the charts and watching him feel the same made it ever better.
Nate Becker has been friends with the Bennett family since high school, they became his second family and home. Alice was always an added bonus, but he never did anything because of the relationship with the family and his always moving job. Until he finds himself in San Francisco for more than a few weeks things change and so does their relationship.
The chemistry between these two was seriously is so hot. I loved it. I loved watching them give in to the eye flirting that has been going on for years. Watching Alice find her happily ever after was just what I needed to get me out of my funk I was in with reading. I can't wait for more of this family!
Excerpt
“Let me do the dirty work from time to time. You’re mine, Alice. That means I’ll protect you from anyone, even if you don’t want me to. I’ll protect you especially when you don’t want me to because it’s when you need it most.” Before I can reply, he steps right in front of me. “You understand? You are mine.”
I shake my head. “You’re stubborn and possessive.”
“Sounds like I’m a catch.”
“I didn’t mean those as compliments,” I inform him, crossing my arms over my chest.
“That’s how they sounded to me.”
“How do you figure?”
“You can easily rephrase that to determined and protective. Both positive traits.”
Despite my annoyance, my lips twitch with a hint of a smile.
“I won’t apologize for wanting to protect you.”
“I wasn’t really expecting you to,” I reply, disarmed by his passion and honesty. “But I’m warning you, I’m still mad at you.”
“I’m counting on it, darling. In fact, hold on to the anger until we get home. Unless you want to leave now?”
“No, the event isn’t over.” I’m a little suspicious of his sudden good mood. “Why do you want me to hold on to the anger?”
“Because there’s a kind of sex I’m dying to try with you.”
“What kind is that?”
He wiggles his eyebrows, leaning in. “Make-up sex.”
