Synopsis
Trust. Five Letters. One Word. I'm the girl who doesn't let anyone in. My world was shattered and turned upside down in one night. Since then I've been trying to live, if that's what you call it, but fighting the anxiety of what happened and trusting others is hard. Each day is a struggle to reach for the unknown. Truth. Five Letters. One Word. I watched my father give my mother the world and the stars. She took everything from him, then left him as a broken man with nothing to live for. I told myself I'd never fall in love. I'm guarding my heart and emotions, only looking out for number one. The only way to have truth in any relationship is to stay true to yourself. Just when you think you've got it all figured out, you realize your puzzle is unfinished. You find a piece you never thought you needed until everything changes with one touch. After that...you levitate.

Excerpt
She’s timid, constantly fidgeting. She’s moved the pillow on her lap at least twenty times. Her breathing is accelerated and her leg is bouncing up and down with nerves.
It’s taking extreme effort to concentrate on the movie. We’ve almost made it to the end when I hear her sniff. At first, I don’t think much of it, until it happens again. I turn to look at her and see tears rolling down her cheeks. Without thinking, I reach over and wipe the tears away with my thumb. She gives me a watery smile. “I forgot how it ended. I never would have agreed to watch it with you if I had remembered.” She chuckles at herself.
Something in my chest tightens at seeing her tears. No man likes to see a woman cry in his presence, but this is different. I feel…protective of her. Like I could kick Ben and Bruce’s ass for making her cry. Now I want to kick my own ass for even thinking it.
I watch as she offers me another smile through her tears. “Don’t hold it against me,” she says, chuckling. I have something I would like to hold against her, in her, whatever. I don’t get the chance to respond as the door to her apartment flies open. In walks Nicole and Bright. Fuck! This is not what I need. This is going to go down one of two ways. He’s going to be pissed that I pursued her or he’s never going to let me live it down that she’s gotten under my skin.

 Review

 3.5 out of 5 stars

I found this book to be simplistically adorable. I liked reading Levitate and can honestly say I finished it within a day. The chemistry between the two main characters was definitely there from the very beginning. I can see how Kensington falls hard for the ever so endearing Maxton. That boy has more womanly charms than the Earth has water. They have both had to deal with a lot of issues that have happened in their pasts. Their past ghosts continue to haunt them both. Kensington, understandably, is still struggling with the death of her mother, while Maxton suffers through the pain of losing his father. They are both living their lives with the burden of their pain alone, that is, until the day they meet. The moment they meet every rule, wall, obstacle they had standing in place in order to protect their hearts, comes crumbling down.

From the start, the story is interesting with Maxton leading with his lower regions, rather than his heart. This is one thing that really bothered me. At the very beginning he does a lot of things she doesn’t like, like unwanted touching and putting his lips on her without her permission. She just met the dude and he’s all over her. Seriously! Would you let a complete stranger do that to you?! If that was me and he made me feel uncomfortable by inappropriately touching me, let’s just say I hope the guy has some really good health insurance. It was a simple book with an adorable and of course extremely endearing ending. Levitate was a good book however it was nothing extraordinary. I would definitely recommend reading this book if you are into the not so typical love at first sight. Maxton and Kensington’s story is one to be appreciated.

"It's amazing how something you thought you never wanted is the one thing that makes you feel complete."
