Forced to take on the biggest challenge of his life, Cale must seek help from the woman who walked away from him and broke his heart.

Sometimes it takes more than one journey in life to truly be home.

EXCERPT:
Maddie's POV

“Cale, you need to go home.”
He closed his eyes and shook his head. “You’re doing it again. You’re pushing me away. I’m tired of it, Maddie. I’m so tired of it.”
I swallowed hard and turned to find my phone. I needed Jack to come pick up Cale.
I was about to dial my phone when Cale grabbed me. He turned me around and backed me up until I hit the living room wall.
His eyes were filled with lust. That look had my panties soaked in seconds.
He lifted up my dress and, in one quick movement, he ripped my panties from my body. I wanted to cry out yes. I wanted to let him take me, but I couldn’t.
“Cale,” I said. “Don’t do this.”
He kissed my neck and I started to give in. When his hand touched my inner thigh, I startled. His lips moved to mine and I moaned, desperately, into his mouth as he lifted my leg.
“Oh God,” I whispered. I tried to come to my senses. “Cale, please don’t do this. We can’t do this.”
He moved his lips to my jaw line as he kissed around to my ear. “Are you turned on by me? Or by him?”
The moment he asked, I felt like a whore. I dropped my leg and pushed him back.
I wiped the tears from my eyes.
“Jesus. I didn’t mean that Maddie. I just—”
“Get out,” I said. “Get out of my house and don’t you dare set foot near me again. I hate you, Cale.”

Excerpt

“No one’s watching us, Cassie. I made this room temporarily free. I meant what I said.” Michael lowered his voice and met my eyes with a gaze so intense I drew away from him and turned toward the window. When he set his hand on my shoulder, I jerked away.
“You know how I feel about you. For the sake of the program and for the sake of my own heart, I’ve tried to push those feelings away, but it’s been impossible,” he said, replacing his hands as I crossed my arms.
His grip on my shoulders tightened as he searched my eyes for emotions that matched his own, but before I could severe our gaze, his lips were against mine, hot and hard as his palms slid to my upper arms. My raw anger was eclipsed by my need for comfort and love, my lips parted, and my arms fell loosely to my sides, accepting his kiss.
When his hands shifted to my back, drawing me closer, his kisses filled of desperation. I told myself to stop and push away, but with my next breath, the woodsy smell of his cologne lulled my rage.
You can’t do this Cassie. Stop! Remember what he did. He’s one of them.

“No,” I shouted, pushing away. “Things are different now. I don’t want to be with you.”

Blindsided Cover Reveal

Emma Hart's brand new series BY HIS GAME starts off with this explosive first book Blindsided!

RELEASE DATE: January 12, 2015

From Emma Hart, the New York Times bestselling author of the Game series, comes a brand new series where the game is realer, the tension is tighter, the sex is hotter, and the stakes are the highest of all…

Two people. Two agendas. Two games.

What happens when the out-there It-Boy of football meets the secret It-Girl of fashion?

As the daughter of Hollywood’s sweetheart, Leah Veronica can’t even buy a coffee without finding her face on a magazine stand, so it’s no wonder she’s launching her first fashion line in secret. With it debuting at New York Fashion Week in just under a month, extra time in the spotlight is the last thing she needs.

The son of the best quarterback the league has ever seen, filling legendary shoes as the L.A. Vipers’ quarterback was inevitable for Corey Jackson. So was meeting Leah Veronica—the first girl to hand him his ass without putting a hair out of place.

Getting the handsome, prickly blonde into his bed becomes his number one goal. But getting the sexy, over-confident footballer the hell away from her becomes Leah’s—at least until she realizes the best way to do that is to give him what he wants.

If only it was that simple.

When Corey discovers who she is, and private photos of Hollywood’s finest find their way online, everything they thought they knew is thrown into disarray.

And when secrets are exposed and hearts are shattered, they have to figure out if they’ve been blindsided by love or reality, and if it’s worth running the extra yard to win the game they never meant to play.

EXCERPT

Leah’s Great Aunt Ada has been staring at me all night. I’m hovering somewhere between cute and creepy, because she has the most adorable little grin she shoots my way whenever I catch her looking. Crow’s feet appear at the corners of her eyes, and her cheeks flush just a little.
I think she might have a crush on me.
Again, hovering between cute and creepy.
“Aunt Ada. Will you please stop looking at him like he’s dessert?” Leah sighs, taking Ada’s plate from in front of her.
“Stop hooking up with Bert? Whoever is Bert?” Ada replies, looking genuinely confused.
I quirk my eyebrow, and Grace leans across the table. “Hearing aid, Ada.”
The old woman blinks, then slips her hand into her pocket. She pulls out a small, nude-colored device and fits it to her ear. “Now, Lele, what was that you were saying about hooking up with Bert?”
Lele?
Leah catches my eye and gives me a death stare. “I didn’t say anything about Bert. I asked you to stop looking at Corey like he’s dessert.”
“He isn’t?”
I cough into my hand.
“Ada, it’s late. I think you should, perhaps, go to bed now.” Grace winks at me and stands.
“But we haven’t danced.”
“People don’t dance at dinner now, Aunt Ada,” Leah tells her. “They eat, they drink, they go home.”
“Well, how boring. You young’uns don’t know how to have a good time.”
Grace swoops Ada out of the kitchen with her still muttering about ‘kids today.’
“Oh, they do,” Leah murmurs, loading the dishwasher. “They just don’t invite old people along.”
I grin. “Do you need any help?”
She shakes her head instead of answering me verbally. She hasn’t said a fucking word to me since she rebuffed my offer of a date. Even through dinner, she managed to contribute to the conversation without directing a single sentence at me.
And it’s slowly starting to really, really piss me off.
I watch her scrape the plates into the trash then bend over and put them in the dishwasher. Her dress rides up her legs, the hem hovering at the very top of her thighs. If she bends over another half an inch, her underwear will be fully exposed to me. So will her ass, and if she’s that kind of girl, maybe her pussy, too.
My cock twitches at the thought. Fuck—I want to go over there and see. I want to flick that stupid fucking dress up and see what kind of underwear she wears, and if that doesn’t make me hard imagining it…
“Are you staring at my ass?” she asks, her words slicing through the silence easily but sharply.
“On a scale of one to ten, how honestly do you want me to answer that?”
“Very honestly.”
My eyes coast over her smooth skin. “About a fifty.”
She slams the dishwasher shut and turns. “Seriously? Is me telling you to cut the crap an open invitation to ogle me?”
“No, but you wearing a dress that short and bendin’ over is.”
Her lips thin. “And you wonder why I won’t go out with you.”
“Maybe I’m not bothered.”
“Yeah?” She rests her hands flat on the table opposite me and leans over. “So why’ve you been looking at me all evening like I’m a math puzzle you can’t figure out?”
“Because you confuse the fuck out of me.” I hold her gaze. “One night you don’t want me. The next, you’re in my arms, fucking whimpering into my mouth. Then not even twenty-four hours later, you’re tellin’ me where to go. That’s why I keep looking at you.” My eyes drop to her tits. “That and you’re hot as hell.”
She stares at me until I bring my eyes back up to hers. “Wow. And that right there is why I just told you ‘no’ when you asked me out.”
She pushes off the table and stalks away from me.
“What the hell are you so mad for?” I get up and follow her out to the back yard. “You’re the one sending me more messages than I can keep up with!”
“Then this is the last one!” she yells, turning to face me. “No. That’s the message, Corey, all right? I can’t go out with you. I cannot be seen in public with you. I do not need the media craziness that will come with being associated with you.”
“You’re Grace Veronica’s daughter. They photograph you getting a coffee, for fuck’s sake!”
“And that’s why I don’t need more attention!” She runs her fingers through her blonde hair. “I just don’t, okay?”
“Why? It makes no sense.”
“It does to me.” Her eyes soften and she wraps her arms around her waist. “It’s dangerous for me, okay? I can’t explain why, so you have to accept that as it is. You have to take my no for a no and just leave it alone.”
“See, that’s where the problem is. I can’t,” I say, moving closer to her. She doesn’t move. “I wanted you the moment I saw you in the bar. I wanted to fuck you, Leah. I still do. I’d love nothin’ more than to have your body beneath mine right fuckin’ now. But you turned me down with that sassy mouth of yours, and now I’m intrigued by you.”
“Intrigued by me? There’s nothing to be intrigued by. I’m pretty boring.”
“You’re wrong,” I mutter, dipping my face close to hers without touching her. “I want to get under your skin, darlin’. I want to consume you. Even if it’s only for a night. I want to finish what I set out to start when I walked up to you in that bar.”
“You can’t.” She swallows.
“I can and I will,” I echo her words from earlier. “I won’t leave you alone, Leah. I will pursue you until I get what I want. Until I get you.”
“You won’t. Get me.”
I cup her jaw and brush my nose along it. “I want you, Leah. And I always get what I want.”

About THE HAZARDS OF MISTLETOE : One snowy Christmas Eve, one mistletoe kiss, one friendship changed forever. Don’t underestimate the power of mistletoe. It looks innocent enough, but a single branch has the potential to change your life. One mistletoe kiss led to the most embarrassing night of my life, but thankfully by the next Christmas I ended up exactly where I was supposed to be.

Review

5 out of 5 stars

Are you looking for a book to get you into the holiday mood? Well this book will do just that! It had everything Christmassy that I like plus an extra bonus, romance.

So as always I expect the best from Alyssa Rose Ivy because she is one of my favorites. This book was really great I just have one problem, it was too short! This was a very quick read but I loved getting a glimpse of Glen and Savy.  After reading the other books in the Hazards series I knew this one would be great.

So their relationship starts really early with their family being good friends so of course they were going to develop a close relationship. They did have a close relationship but that changed one night with a Christmas kiss under the mistletoe. That kiss and something a little more embarrassing left Savy devastated. Savy is a good character but she isn't the same after that kiss with Glen. It hurt her very much because she has had a crush on Glen since like forever. I hated Glen because of what he did to Savy that night. I was mad at him because he did nothing about it for a whole year. He didn't go after her or try to contact Savy so that changed her confidence in herself.

So it is Christmas time again one year later and they will see each other face to face for the first time since the kiss. I loved that this was a holiday read because it got me into the Christmas spirit early on (I am currently decorating my house).  Savy is not happy that she has to meet Glen again but Glen really wants to see her so he could explain everything and win her back. I just hated Glen because he hurt Savy which went against his own desire for her. I was extra mad though because he did nothing about it for a whole year! He didn't go after her or try to contact Savy.

When they meet again Glen made up for it by pursuing Savy but they have a lot to work out and they only have one week to fix this. I liked that Savy and Glen had a past because it showed how much they cared about each other and it made the book make come together. Not like those other books where they meet for a day and they are all like insta-love. No this book had a good basis for the relationship and it came together great. Im just glad Glen finally realized what an idiot he was and is doing what will make him happy which is to have Savy in his life. I really recommend this book. It is great to read snuggled up in a blanket and in front of the fireplace.

Excerpt:

“Ice skating and hot cocoa? What are you buttering me up for?” I sat down on the bench and unlaced my skates. The snow was falling a little bit heavier, but the flakes were still light and more pleasant than a nuisance. “I’m just enjoying an evening with a beautiful woman. I do have a romantic side you know.” “Romantic?” What was Glen playing at? I’d had a crush on him for years, but things had stayed completely platonic. We were good friends who saw each other once a year, and teased each other through text messages and late night phone calls. That was it. He didn’t hear me. He was already in line to return our skates. I waited for him to return with my boots, and not for the first time I was glad I’d worn wool socks. It was cold during the day, but the nights were absolutely freezing. “Here you go, my lady.” He bent down and proceeded to put my foot into my boot. I pulled away from him. “Knock it off. What’s gotten into you tonight?” As charming as Glen was being something seemed off with him. I wondered if maybe I wasn’t the only one who was upset. He proceeded to move on to my next boot. “It’s Christmas Eve. Aren’t you Miss Holiday Spirit?” “Usually.” “Exactly.” He put on his shoes and tugged on my hand to pull me to standing. “Let’s get those hot chocolates.” The line at the café on the other side of the rink was nearly out the door, but I was enjoying Glen’s company so much I didn’t mind. He insisted on buying my hot cocoa for me, and considering he’d already paid for my skate rental, I was starting to feel uncomfortable. Glen had all the money he could ever need, but I wasn’t used to guys buying me anything. My dating experience wasn’t extensive, and it involved boys who were all about going dutch. “I really don’t mind paying.” “Yeah, but I want to pay. Stop arguing and enjoy yourself.” He lightly bumped his shoulder into mine. “Well, thanks.” We walked around the village sipping our hot chocolate and not saying much. After a while we took a seat on a bench. It was underneath a tree, and the pine needles blocked some of the falling snow. I closed my eyes and listened to the chatter of people walking by mixed with the low hum of holiday music. “You guys need to kiss.” I opened my eyes and saw a girl staring at us. “You’re sitting under mistletoe. That’s the rules. You’re under mistletoe, you kiss.” I looked up. Sure enough there was mistletoe hanging over us from the tree. It wasn’t real, it was just the decorative stuff they used, but it had the same unmistakable appearance. Glen put an arm around me. “I think she’s right, Savy.” I turned to glare at him. “Don’t even start.” “Why not? Scared to kiss me?” he teased. Yes. I was scared. Terrified. This was Glen. Kissing him wasn’t something I was prepared to do casually while sitting on a bench in the snow with a bunch of onlookers. Of course I couldn’t tell him that though. “Why would I be scared?” “I don’t know. Just checking.” He got a twinkle in his eye. That twinkle should have given me all the warning I needed, but it didn’t. I was wholly unprepared when his lips made contact with mine. They were warm and soft, and they moved perfectly against mine. I kissed him back, desperately wanting to know what his mouth tasted like, and if his tongue felt half as good as his lips.
