Born by Tara Brown is truly a worthy
midnight read as well as the other two books in the Born Trilogy.
Born- Born Trilogy Book 1
Born to Fight- Born Trilogy Book 2
Reborn- Born Trilogy Book 3
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars but
to me it deserves so many more!
1 million to be exact!
"I am the hero of my own story.
The girl who lived in the woods and never needed anyone. The girl who is going to free the other girls."
Dear readers when I first read Born
it was a confusion in the beginning. I wasn't sure what was going on but that
didn't last long because Tara Brown had me completely hooked on the book with
every page I flipped on my kindle. This is not a book about zombies, but about
the infected (which kind of remind me of zombies), that are out to get anyone
or anything in their sight.
Everyone in this world is alone and they have to fight to stay
alive and hunt for food. The infected were created to stop the population
increase but the plan went crazy and they couldn't get rid of them (This book
doesn't explain why until later in the trilogy). They did this to create the
perfect babies by modifying them. The soldiers or I don't know what to call them
steal and harm the woman and they take them to the breeder camps. It is all
very crazy and I don't want to give to much away so you must read this
book!
Now lets talk about the amazing character in the book! First of
all, Emma is such a strong character in this book and it is seen in her point
of view. It still makes me sad that she was alone since she was 9 years old
when the world went crazy and the infected were everywhere. She was alone for
10 years before Anna came knocking on her cabin door demanding help for her
brother Jake. Emma has absolutely no people skills and this is what draws me
towards her because she was always told by her dad "It's us and them,
Em". She never trusted anyone, except her pet wolf Leo who I love because
he helped Em stay somewhat normal and have some love in her life.
Anna has survival skills and she asks Emma for help after Jake
falls in a hole and gets stuck. Em is really awkward when she takes them to her
cabin to help Jake with his injury. Jake is really amazing and you absolutely
fall in love with him once you meet him (even though he has zero survival skill
to save his life). Anna and Jake make Em feel like a family again and she
really likes Jake. They go through so many struggles that I will not mention
but I will mention Will. When Emma meets Will he is the complete opposite of
Jake. She likes both of them for different reasons. Jake makes her feel happy
with the stories he tells her and he reminds her of "before" when
everything in the world was good. While Will on the other hand infuriates her
but he also makes her feel safe and she feels him with all her soul.
These two boys drive her nuts but she
also wants to save everyone from the breeder farms. She is the hero of her own
story and she goes on a mission to destroy the breeder farms. The end of the
book is so shocking and as soon as I read it I was flummoxed and so emotional.
I had to start reading the next book right away so I bought Born to Fight right
away on my kindle! Tara Brown is just amazing and everything she writes is
incredible. The Born Trilogy is a must read and I bet anyone who reads it will
stay up all night trying to finish the books.

Goodreads Review
Emma ran when her daddy
told her to. She hid like he said she should. He was the first person she
turned her back on. The first one she let die.
Ten years has gone by and she still
lives by the simple rules he taught her when she was nine years old.
"Don't help
anyone. Don't go where other people are unless you have to. Trust no one.
Always pull the trigger."
Until one night she
hears the worst sound in the world, a knock. A simple, timid knock, on the door
to her cabin.
Only the voice of the brave little
girl, ready to die for her brother, persuades Emma to open the door.
As her fingers turn the lock, she has
a terrible feeling she will regret her decision.
But even as regret fills her world,
so do love and companionship. Things she never imagined she would ever have
again.
Everything comes at a cost, you decide what
you'll pay.
