Synopsis
Nobody’s perfect.
We all have our faults.
GRACE DAWSON is desperate. Her father is dead and her mum is in prison for killing the man who attacked her. She is about to turn eighteen and homeless. Her options are limited. Life is bleak.
NOAH CARTER is twenty-four, a writer, and burdened by his family responsibilities. Forced to live in the same small town he grew up in, he knows it would be wrong to wish for a different life.
When Noah offers Grace a place to stay, it is an act of generosity that she has little choice but to accept. As they spend time together, their feelings grow beyond friendship and they become increasingly important parts of each other’s lives. But it’s not just their lives they have to think about and the challenges they face threaten to overwhelm their relationship. Both make mistakes but can they overcome their own faults to forgive each other’s?
FAULT is a story about love, loss, family and forgiveness. It’s a story about life.

  2. A weakness or defect in character.
  3. Responsibility for a mistake or wrongdoing.
  4. (verb) To find error in; to blame.
Fault is the third novel in Nicola Hudson’s Define series but can be read as a standalone from Curve and Heart, although it does contain spoilers if read out of sequence.

Grace

I tried to scream but my brain was stuck on registering details: the cold kitchen counter under my cheek, the painful pressure of a drawer handle sticking into my hipbone, the stale alcohol on his breath as he groaned in my ear.
“It’s been a long time since I had a redhead. I bet you’re already all fired up, aren’t you?” He pulled at my leggings, the weight of his upper body keeping me pinned in place. The material refused to cooperate, stretching outward rather than moving down, generating a grunt of frustration.
“Please, don’t,” I cried as his hand ferreted between my legs, my clenched thighs unable to offer enough resistance. “Please. Please. Please.” My begging fell on deaf ears as he tugged again at my waistband. I knew what was going to happen and couldn’t believe that this was my fate. Vague memories of my brother Jake’s attempt at teaching me self-defence skirted at the edge of my consciousness, but I couldn’t move enough to stamp on his instep or hit his windpipe.
I knew I couldn’t give in.
Not yet.
I squirmed and shifted, fighting harder than I had ever needed to before.
“Stop it, you little bitch,” he spat before grabbing my hair and slamming my head against the counter. “Do you like it rough? Is that what you’re after?” Bile burnt my throat at the sound of his zipper. I heard the rip as the material of my leggings started to give way in his hands, my life and soul leaching out of me at what it meant.
I stopped moving.
I stopped breathing.
I stopped hoping.
And then there was noise, the cry of an animal in agony, and the dead weight of his body slumped on mine. I couldn’t work out what was happening. His guttural moaning had nothing to do with pleasure, and he repeatedly pushed into my back, but made no contact anywhere else. I took advantage of his loosened grip on my hair to twist my head.
And saw Mum stood next to us.
Holding a knife.
Dripping blood.
As she lunged for him again, I managed to pull myself away from the counter and felt the weight of him slide off me. Pain shot through my arm as the knife caressed my skin, leaving a red line in its wake.
“Mum!”
Silent waves of rage rolled off her, rendering her oblivious to my cries. She launched at him again, even though he was slumped, unmoving, in a growing pool of red. The sound of knife plundering flesh made me retch and I tugged at her, causing us both to slip in the blood. As we fell to the floor, I managed to knock the knife out of her hand and pull her to me.
“Mum, what have you done?” I tried to make eye contact with her, but she was like a wild animal, unable to make a connection. Even on her darkest days after Dad died, or her most hung-over days, I had always managed to get through to the hidden her. But not in that moment. She was beyond me, lost in a world I didn’t know how to get to.
A gurgling sound brought the realisation that the monster may not have been slain. The dilemma of what to do next was overwhelming. Who needed me the most? Mum still appeared unaware of my presence, staring into the abyss of her mind.
That left him.
I moved across the floor on my knees, warm blood soaking into my clothes, and turned him over. His front was covered in congealing blood and his eyes were glassy, staring into the same space Mum was inhabiting. I couldn’t hear or see any signs of breathing so I felt around his wrist, not knowing how or where to find a pulse but compelled to do something.
“Nine, nine, nine” was the whispered instruction from behind me. I looked at her, but her eyes were still elsewhere. Running to the hall, I picked up the phone, dialling as I returned to the carnage.
Looking back, I wish I’d sat there with her for longer before making that call. I wish I’d had the chance to try and find her, my mum, one final time. I wish I’d thought about how to protect Josh from it all. I wish I’d thought about whether I had the strength to deal with the ensuing chaos.

About Nicola Hudson
Nicola Hudson is a British writer who discovered what was becoming known as New Adult fiction the same week she downloaded the Kindle app; within a week she was hooked into a one-clicking frenzy. After reading Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and Easy by Tammara Webber, the urge to write her own novel, but with a British slant, was overwhelming.
Her first novel, Curve, was published in 2013 and her second novel, Heart, was published a year later. Although romance is an important part of Curve and Heart, readers will know that Nicola also writes about serious, some may say dark, issues and their impact on young women. This theme continues in the final book of the Define series, Fault. She works full-time with teenagers and so it seemed like a natural step to write about them as well.
Nicola lives close to Birmingham, England with her husband and cat. When not writing, she is reading. When not reading, she is probably reading about reading, flicking between social media sites and Goodreads. Probably with a bar of chocolate at hand.

When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.
Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away...that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.
Gianluca.
After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.
But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.
After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.
I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

Black Swan Affair by KL Kreig is LIVE!
"This book owned me as I turned page after page, wanting to both savor every beautifully written word and race to the end. Black Swan Affair is easily one of my top reads of the year.” – USA Today Bestselling Author, Meghan March

I’ve loved him as long as I can remember. The gangly boy with big brown eyes and unruly hair who grew up into an intoxicating man. He wears scruff like he invented it and ambles with a swagger that makes panties drop. Killian Shepard. Shep. We grew up together. We played Ghost in the Graveyard. Had our own rock band. It didn’t matter that he was five years older than me. It didn’t matter that he looked at me as a kid sister even as I grew into a woman. It didn’t even matter when he left me behind to go to college and start his adult life. He’d be back. He was always meant to be mine. He came back, all right. But instead of smelling of promises, he stunk of betrayal. And he destroyed me—us—the day he married my sister instead of me. So I did the only thing a girl like me in my position could do. I got my revenge. I married his brother, Kael. Now we’re one big happy fucking family.

Review
**4.5 stars**

This book. Oh man, did I love it. From the first page up until the very end, I loved it. From the second I read the blurb, I knew I had to read it. I was curious on how the story would go and the characters would develop throughout the story, none of it, absolutely none of it, disappointed me.

The love story is this book is epic. You aren't sure how the story is going to play out based off of it jumping from present time to past tense and the different character views. I was sucked in from the preface and I continued to get sucked in clear up until the very last page.

Maverick's character is one of my absolute favorite characters of 2016. I wasn't sure how her character would grow and develop after reading the first character, but I knew I liked her.
For the male character we have two brothers, Killian and Kael. That's all I'm going to say because I want others to go into completely blind like I did. Just know, I have a favorite and he deserves to be that favorite page 1 of character.

I loved this story. I loved how it ended and loved how the characters ended. I can't wait for more by K.L. Kreig.

I’m a huge creature of habit, but I’ll tell you I’m flexible. I read every single day and if I don’t get a chance…watch the hell out, I’m a raving bitch. My iPad and me: BFFs. I’m direct and I make no apologies for it. I swear too much. I love alternative music and in my next life I want to be a bad-ass female rocker. [Book Blitz] Hat Trick by Kristen Hope Mazzola

One accident - a freaking car crash.

That’s all it took to send my brother’s and my life into a tailspin with no end in sight. I was going to be something. I was going to be the best. I had the Olympics in my sights. And it all went to shit in one flash. Brayden wasn’t ready to raise a younger sister when I was thrown into his lap. He had his life and everything going for him. Thankfully, he was still drafted to his dream hockey team. The same one dad played for when we were growing up.

It took time, but I started to get better, started to open up, started skating and even dating again. I even thought I found the perfect guy for me.

Isn’t it funny how guys hit on you when they know you’re not available, but when you’re single they won’t give you the freaking time of day? I guess the game is more fun that way. And for the captain of my brother’s team, that’s exactly what I was. A hat trick is three goals in hockey. Some say three is a crowd and they might be right.

I was Gavin Hayes' unobtainable goal.

*A No Cheating Standalone*
You want to know more about me? Well, let's see...

I am the lover of wine, sushi, football and the ocean; that is when I am not wrapped up in the literary world.
Please feel free to contact me to chat about my writing, books you think I'd like or just to shoot the, well you know.

[Blog Tour] The Bound by K.A. Linda

Cyrene Strohm is a Queen’s Affiliate, a high-ranking official of the court of Byern, with power and privilege to spare. But she’s also a keeper of dangerous secrets: like the fact that she holds the heart of the King, and that she possesses magic in a world where magic no longer exists. Determined to discover what this means and how to use her newfound abilities, Cyrene sets off for the distant land of Eleysia. An island nation where Affiliates are strictly forbidden from entering. But the journey is perilous, and the destination may mean utter ruin, as Cyrene comes to learn that everything she’s been told her whole life – about her court, her homeland, and even herself—are bound in a beautiful lie.

My Thoughts

The Affiliate (Book 1)

I love going into books blind. I never read the blurbs because sometimes they reveal too much and I just like to jump in. So that is what I did with The Affiliate. At first it was hard to follow because it was too much information at once and too many characters that I couldn’t keep up. I kept getting confused and I didn’t like that but as I kept reading more things started to make sense. That is when I started to love it. The Affiliate is different from other books and it is intriguing. It is full of twists and turns.

Cyrene has quickly become one of my favorite heroines. She is different but she is the epitome of strength and bravery. She handles situations as they come but with a level of expertise. She is literally shaping her destiny. She takes command and doesn’t stop. Following her journey has been one of my favorite things.

The boys in this book are crazy! We have two important characters. They are both Royalty, they are brothers, and they like the same girl. It gets a little intense and I love that. So much is happening at once. So much tension, lust, want, and jealousy.

The Affiliate is not a normal romance book. I like that it not only focuses a lot on Cyrene but it also doesn’t make love the most important thing. Which is kind of crazy. I love when books are all about love but this one worked so well. I am so glad I read this! I am so excited. As soon as I finished this one I was off to read The Bound.

The Bound (Book 2)

The Bound is a whirlwind journey that is filled with so much action and craziness that I was hooked to this book. I couldn’t put it down because as I read I was invested in Cyrene and her mission. I was glued to the book trying to solve and predict the future for these characters. I was both scared and excited as to what it would bring. K.A. Linde takes us on a voyage that is not what I expected. I didn’t see this book going in this direction but I am so glad with what I got.

Cyrene is clever than ever and she is much stronger. She is learning so many things in this book and that makes me love her even more. Before she was more naïve and now she is growing. That is one of my favorite things about her. Now she has an open mind and she sees the world for what it really is.

We are also introduced to more new characters in The Bound! I loved them! It added so much to the story. I will not talk about them because I feel like it is to spoilery. So all you have to know is to expect new and better characters than ever before. There is a lot more I wish I could talk about but I can’t. Just know that this book will have you flipping the pages, wanting to read faster, just to know what is going to happen.

The Bound was really good but I NEED the next book. So much happened and I have so many unanswered questions. I really loved this book and I cannot wait for the next one. K.A. Linde really outdid herself with The Bound. It had me gripping my kindle and gasping out loud.

Staggering down the hallway, she didn’t even look up when she heard her name. “Hmm?” she asked. “Cyrene, there you are!” Someone grabbed her shoulders, and she tipped her head to look up into the most beautiful face. She smiled and felt a renewed burst of energy flow through her. “Hey,” she whispered. “Hey,” he said, threading his fingers through hers. A shiver ran up her back. He glanced around the empty hallway and then tugged her away from the main corridors. She turned a corner, and he pressed her back into a darkened alcove. His mouth was only inches from hers. Her exhaustion was wearing off from the excitement of being with him. “I was really worried about you,” he breathed. “You don’t have to worry about me,” she said, trapped in his gaze. She teetered on her tiptoes and nearly brushed their lips together. Her heart was racing ahead of her. This felt almost better than reaching for her magic. Definitely better than moving one drop of water at a time all day. “You’re wrong.” Then, he softly dropped his mouth down on hers. His lips were tender and slow as they caressed hers. “I will always worry for your safety.” Cyrene’s cheeks heated, and she sighed, leaning back against the hard stone of the alcove. “I didn’t mean to worry you.” His hands pushed up through her hair and tilted her head back up to look at him. She closed her eyes and sighed. She was so tired, and just the feel of his fingers was lulling her to sleep. “That feels good.” His mouth found hers, and despite her exhaustion, she pushed back against his lips with more force. She refused to let the fact that she was tired get in the way of her time with him. “Whoa,” he said, pulling back from her. He rested his forehead against hers, and she could tell he was breathing heavily. “As much as I want this, and I do, I want to make sure you’re okay. This didn’t scare you away?” She shook her head. “This, most certainly, does not scare me.” Then, she kissed him again for good measure. He laughed. “Good. Because I’ve been wanting to kiss you since I first met you.” “You have not!” she insisted. “Are you kidding? A gorgeous, feisty woman who wasn’t afraid to put me in my place the first time she met me? I mostly certainly have.”

[Review and Excerpt Tour] Royally Screwed by Emma Chase

Emma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series & Legal Briefs Series, returns with the first of three sizzling standalone books about a family of racy, irresistible Royals.

royally-screwed-for-web
Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka “His Royal Hotness”, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant—hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you. Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face. Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants. ***
Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be. There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately—the royals are far from accepting of this commoner. But to Olivia—Nicholas is worth it. *** Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is, but more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

Review
**4.5 stars**

I am a huge Emma Chase fan so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this story. The cover alone would have been reason to read the story, but after reading it? The story itself makes it even better! Prince Nicholas is hot and watching him fall for Olivia is even hotter.

Nicholas, the hot prince of Wessco. I think he is one of my favorite Emma characters to date. He says what he thinks and goes with it. He lives his life with security, he tries to stay out of the public eye and doesn't do relationships. Every aspect of his life is planned, including who he is to marry. After being sent to Manhattan by Queen, he isn't prepared for the change his will take when he meets Olivia.

Olivia is the glue to her family. She's tough, she gorgeous, yet she doesn't live her life to that fullest due to running the family business. After a snow storm that shuts the city down her life changes in ways she wasn't prepared for. Meeting Nicholas came out of left field. He intrigues her in a way she's never been intrigued before and gives her a reason to get out and adventure.

Overall, I would have to say this is one of my all time favorite books by Emma. The loved Nicholas and Olivia. I loved how their story unfolded, the adventure and the romance was fitting for them. I feel like they found themselves in each other, this made the story even sweeter.

I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I'm ready for Henry's story.

Excerpt
She’s even lovelier than I remembered, than I dreamed. Delicate midnight tendrils frame a face that belongs in a museum—with stunning dark sapphire eyes that should be commemorated in vibrant oils and soft watercolors. If Helen launched a thousand ships, this girl could raise a thousand hard-ons.
She’s prettily made, the top of her head coming only to my chin, but fantastically curvy. Great full tits that strain the buttons of a wrinkled white blouse, shapely hips in a black skirt tapering to a tiny waist I could wrap my hands around and toned legs encased in sheer black tights finish off the whole package very nicely.
An unfamiliar anxiousness fizzes like soda in my gut.
“The door was open,” I explain.
“It’s broken.”
Logan flicks at the lock. Security is his life, so a broken lock would annoy him like a puzzle with the final piece missing.
“What do you want?”
She has no idea who I am. It’s in the defensive way she holds herself and the accusatory note in her voice. Some women try to pretend they don’t recognize me, but I can always tell. Her ignorance is rather…thrilling. There are no expectations, no hidden agendas, no reasons to pretend—what she sees is what she gets. And all she sees is me.
My throat is suddenly a barren wasteland. I swallow, but it’s difficult.
“Well, he’s desperate for some pie.” I hook my thumb at Simon. “And I…wanted to apologize for the other evening. I don’t normally act that way. I was on a bit of bender…”
“In my experience, people don’t do things when they’re drunk that they wouldn’t do normally.”
“No, you’re right. I would’ve thought all those things, but I never would’ve said them out loud.” I move closer, slowly. “And if I’d been sober…my opening bid would’ve been much higher.”
“She crosses her arms. “Are you trying to be cute?”
“No. I don’t have to try…it just sort of happens.”
