A Little Bit About Me: My Life Update

First of all, I will like to tell you all that I am very sorry I haven't posted as much as I used to. Life has kept me very busy. Now that doesn't mean that I haven't read books, because of course I have. I don't think I can ever stop but I haven't been posting as many reviews as I would like. For that I am sorry. So I would like to share with you my crazy journey these past few months. I will divide it into sections. By the way this is Tanya. Just so you know.

College Life

I thought this was the easiest section to dive into so I am going to cover it first. I am sure many of you can agree that school is crazy! This semester was one of the hardest I have faced yet but I loved it. It showed me that I love stress! Yeah I know that is crazy but it is good for me. It helps me push myself and work harder. Right now I am not under so much stress and I miss it because I feel like I don't have much to do. I need to get used to a stress filled life because I am going to be a journalist so stress come at me, I am ready for you.

Some of the classes I took this semester were quite interesting. Lets see, I took Chicano Studies: Societal Issues, African American Studies: From Hip Hop to Rap, an online magazine class for journalism, Women Studies: Women Who Work in the Sex Industry, and Communication Theory. This was one of the best semesters because I learned so much. My favorite class was the Women studies class. I learned so much and the class was so much fun. It was a lot of reading but these readings were so good and eye-opening. I also loved my online magazine class because I was able to report on many stories and it was fun and it reinforced my love of journalism.

So after this semester I decided to take a Broadcast Journalism course in a Mini-mester. It was just 2 weeks! Yeah, it was crazy. It started right away so I only got a weekend to rest before it began. Now this class was one of the best. I finally was able to learn about broadcasting and how crazy it was. We had a guest speaker from different news stations almost every day. It is one of the best classes I have taken. Ok so I think thats the wrap-up of my college experience.

Blogging

So now that you learned a little bit about my crazy semester you can understand why I didn't have much time for blogging. I had so much work that I would be studying and doing homework until Midnight or later. That left little time for blogging which made me sad. I did continue reading here and there when I had time. I didn't do as much blogging as I would have liked but I did do some. It was just the last month (May) that really killed me. So now that I am on break I am hoping to do more blogging but then in July I am taking a summer class so I don't know how that is going to work out yet.

Currently I am addicted to the Addicted Series and the companion novels by Krista and Becca Ritchie. I am loving these books and I can't stop reading them. I have gone through four of the books already and I just started the 5th one. I am excited about it because it is back to the original characters that the series started with. I am trying to stop and write a review for them but the books keep pulling me in but I promise that I will get to the reviews soon. I am thinking of doing a Week of Addicted for the books. They deserve a whole week to be recognized.

One last thing before I move on to a different section. I am now realizing that I am horrible at keeping track of the books I have read this year. I decided to take part of the Goodreads Reading Challenge and I forget to update it. I have read but I never add the books so just right now I tried to update it and I had like 20 books to add. I think there are more but I just can't remember! That is not good. I hope to be better at it! I hope to write reviews for most of those books so be ready for that!

Oh and shout-out to Jae and Juliana! Thank you girls for everything. Jae thank you so much for being a great book friend to me. She introduced me to the Addicted Series and she doesn't get annoyed with my constant tweets to her with updates and thoughts that I send to her while I'm reading the series. You are awesome and I am glad to havee met you! Now Juliana be patient with me. I loved your book and I am working on the review! I am so happy to have met you. I am glad that you answered my messages as I gave you updates as I read your book. I hope that we keep in touch. Be sure to check out Jae at The Fluttering Book Nest and check out Juliana's book The Way He Looks at Me!

Life in General

So this year has been a tough one because my family had to endure some bad news. My 84 year old grandma, the love of my life, has cancer. This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to endure in my life. This news broke my heart. My grandma has always been healthy. She has never had anything wrong with her. She had no blood pressure, no diabetes, no nothing so this news was completely shocking to us. We just couldn't believe it. I still can't. It is hard for me. I have always seen her healthy and so active and now she isn't the same.

There is no cure for her. No treatment. No nothing. It is too risky to do anything. She is slowly dying and I hate to see it. It is hard for me to even finish writing this without bursting into tears but I can't because she is here with me. That is the hardest part. I feel like I am holding in my emotions. I am almost always with her and I look at her and I become filled with grief and sadness. I don't cry in front of her and I won't. She has always been there for me, cooking me a buffet of food all the time when we (me and my brother, sister, and cousins) visited her as kids. She would take care of us and make us laugh. It is now my turn to be here with her and take care of her. It is hard but I have never been happier in my life to get each day with her.

I am incredibly thankful to Jay McLean because it was like a miracle happened in my life. Just when we heard the news about my grandma I had just finished her book. It helped me so much and I couldn't be more thankful to her. That book was just what I needed. It showed me the value of life and the importance of it. Where The Road Takes Me (WtRTM) has changed my outlook but it also helped me process my life at the exact moment I needed something to help me. I am just so happy to be living each red letter day with my grandma and I look forward to each day and each hour that I have with her. Hence why I wrote this section in red. If you want to understand why you will have to read WtRTM because I will not share the significant meaning of the color.

I have accepted what is to come and I enjoy every time her eyes light up with her laugh. She is a feisty lady and I love it. She reminds me a lot of Aunt Ada from Blindsided by Emma Hart. I love her so much and even though some days are hard I am so overjoyed with each day that is good. So this is what has happened in my life but I am so glad that I have books in my life. They help me escape a little and feel the pain. I need a book that will let me express all the sadness so if anyone knows a book that will make me ugly cry please let me know!

Oh and just as I was wrapping up I hear the door slam. A short story of my grandma goes like this: The door slams. I hear it and I start to rush out the door. It can only be one person. Granny. She can walk on her own. Sometimes she holds our hand but she is still capable of walking without assistance. One day she got a walker. It has been there collecting dust for a few weeks. Today she decides to try it out. So back to the door slam. I rush out the door and there she is walking around using the walker. This makes me laugh because she really doesn't need it but there she is. She decided that it would be fun to use it so she did. She goes back and forth with the walker on our front porch. Funny sight. Just made my day. She does little things like that that make me smile.

Twisted Bond Blog Tour

Release Day: June 11, 2015

BLURB:

I’m an Italian-Texan woman in a family full of cops. I’m passionate and shoot before I think. You only f*ck with me if you’re stupid.

Photograph cheating spouses. Hand over the evidence. Cash my check.
That was my plan when I returned home to Holly Woods, Texas, and became a private investigator.
Finding the dead body in my dumpster? Yeah… Given the choice, I think I would have opted out of that little discovery, especially since all three of my brothers are cops. And my Italian grandmother is sure the reason I’m single is because of my job.
Of course, my connection to the victim is entirely coincidental. Until I’m hired by her husband to investigate her murder and shoved bang-smack into the path of Detective Drake Nash.
My nemesis, a persistent pain in my ass, and one hell of a sexy son of a bitch.
Shame he still holds a grudge from that time I shot him in the foot twelve years ago, or we could have something. In another life.
So now all I have to do is avoid my nonna’s blind dates, try not to blackmail my brothers into giving me confidential police files, and absolutely do not point my gun at Drake Nash. Or kiss him. Or jump his bones.
All while I hunt down the killer.
Sounds totally simple—until a second body proves that sometimes things that start as coincidences don’t always end up that way…

(Twisted Bond is book one of the Holly Woods Files series and while it does not end in a cliffhanger, it is not a standalone.)

Review:
5 out of 5 stars
I think this quickly became my favorite book by Emma Hart. I read this book so quickly but it captured my heart. It has a mix of everything I love in books which is passion, stubbornness, hot and cocky men, and an equally tough female character. I especially loved that Emma tried something different and it definitely worked. I loved the whole cop thing. It was definitely hot and steamy. Especially the banter between Detective Drake Nash and Noelle Bond. I especially love the names, especially the Bond part because she deserves that.

Noelle is amazing and she is by far my favorite female character. She's like a cop but she is a private investigator that uncovers cheating spouses or girlfriends. I found that so awesome and I love the whole thing! I liked hearing the stories about how the cheats would be discovered. It was very entertaining and suspenseful. Noelle was funny and she has such a strong character. I love women like that. The passion she has and she can shoot! I thought that was great because she can beat her brothers.

Now lets move on to the very sexy Detective. Drake Nash. His name is sexy and commanding just like him. He is so annoying at times because he wants to command everything but he does it in a way that makes you want him as much as Noelle does (even though she denies it). He is a great cop but I think Noelle is better and I like that. I am glad Emma made her this way because I love strong women that can handle themselves and others.

They have known each other a while now but they can't 'stand' each other. That is because their sexual tension and frustration from wanting each other is so powerful. I could feel it through the words. It was amazing to be able to feel that. This tension is even more increased because they are both trying to solve a murder. They get in each others way all the time and I have never wanted to get inside someones head like I do with Drake Nash. I need to know what he is thinking in that head of his.

This book is full of mystery and shocking information just keeps popping up. Just when you think you are getting one step closer BAM something changes course. I loved this so much. The mystery was great and it fulfilled the book in a way I didn't thing possible. Emma did a fantasic job with this book and I highly recommend it. Just be warned that Nonna is crazy and fun at the same time. Be ready for her attitude and her blind dates that she sets up for Noelle. She added great spice to the book. Watch out because this book will have your frustrated and shocked within one quick second!
Author Bio:
By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies - usually wine - and writes books.
Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.
She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

Title: Gabriel

Author: Nikki Kelly

Series: The Styclar Saga #2

Publisher: Feiwel and Friends

Release Date: October 27th 2015

Goodreads Page

Pages: 352

Synopsis:

The handsome Angel from Lailah gets center stage in this continuation of Wattpad sensation Nikki Kelly’s romantic and action-packed series about mortals, vampires, and angels.

Gabriel is an Angel Descendant. He's also an ally to a generation of vampires who want to break away from the demon who controls them. Is their love enough to overcome the dark forces who are ready to go to war with Gabriel, the vampire Jonah, and the angel and vampire forces? And can Gabriel compete with Jonah, who is also in love with Lailah?

Once again, Nikki Kelly looks deeply into the heart and soul of good and evil to create a romantic, action-packed reading adventure.

Interview

Will we get a peek at Styclar Plena in the current action of the book or are we doomed to just hear about from Gabriel's memories only?

Lol doomed you say?! I can tell you exclusively, here in this interview, that in Book 3 we get to go to to third dimension, and the first dimension (Styclar-Plena) in the current action of the book ;)

I need a sneak peak! What's going to happen with Jonah? *waves #TeamJonah flag*

...Now that would be telling ;) You can, however, get a sneak peek through the Gabriel cover reveal blog tour, where I shared 6 excerpts form Book 2: http://www.thestyclarsaga.com/blog-tour/

Can you describe this second book in a tweet? (140 characters)

Just when you think you know... you have no idea ;) #TheStyclarSaga #GABRIEL #NoMercy

Best gif that describes Jonah and another for Gabriel?

How much of Jonah will we see in Gabriel?

Plenty, I promise! ;) The second book may be titled GABRIEL, but it is told from Lailah's POV. The reason the book is called GABRIEL is because there is a focus on what becomes of Gabriel's 'soul' if you will. Take my word for it though, Jonah gets plenty of 'screen time' ;)

If you were FORCED (hahahahha) to help Gabriel or Jonah train to be lifeguards, who would you choose?? Obviously they will only be wearing red speedos. ;)

Sadly, I wouldn't be able to help either train to be a lifeguard as my ability in water is non-existant... That said... *has idea!* I could quite easily throw myself in and begin to drown (because that would require no acting on my part what so ever) and then they would have to jump in and save me... In fact, I think that's exactly what we should do, that way we also get to see both of the boys in red speedos.. because #HellsYes !

In 10 words or less, what can we expect from Gabriel?

A definite need to *fist pump and plenty of *face palming!

(Okay, I know that was 11, but it was close!)

What's the ONE thing about the series that you'd like readers to know that they don't know already? : )

There are elements of my own life weaved through the story telling of the entire series. When I say I gave a part of myself to these novels, I wasn't joking!

What inspired you to mix vampires and angels together?

I wanted to tell a story about light and dark, good and evil if you will, and how things are never quite what they seem....To do this for the saga, I borrowed a little here and there from my own belief system, and I was able to create new worlds and beings, but utilize existing belief or myth on which to base them. For example, the two worlds the beings emerged from were based on the concept of Heaven and Hell. I then spun that into something else entirely. I took the myths about vampires and angels etc. and tried to demonstrate how, through storytelling and game of telephone, the idea of what they are has become quite different from the truth – the truth of course being the reality of things in my books! If you want to tell a story about light and dark, preconceived notions and perception, what two better candidates than Gabriel and Jonah, an Angel and a Vampire in which to explore those very themes!

What was the most challenging part of writing Gabriel?

Lailah picks her ship! That was not an easy thing to pen! **eep**

Lailah was such a successful start to this series, people seemed to really love it! Did that make you feel additional pressure to ensure the sequel was just as good?

When people express their love for your story it always adds to the pressure of making sure you get it right, not just for your characters, not just for you, but for the reader. But there will always be instances where the reader doesn't agree with something that happens as the journey progresses, for example which ship makes it out the port! ;) I always keep the readers in mind, but ultimately I have to be true and honest to the characters and their story, even if it means that sometimes people want to throw things at you! So yes, I guess the prospect of twitter bombs being slung my way adds to the pressure!

If you had a chance to re-live your life, what would you have done differently?

Not a single thing. Every shelf I ever stacked, every customer I ever served, every diary I ever organised... in fact, every minute of every day, all the laughs and all the tears led me to here—and here is the most wonderful place. There is a very fine balance between having ambition and gumption to go out and make your dreams a reality, trying to find the 'good times' if you like, and being able to see and know exactly when you are in them! I'm in them now.

If a celebrity was going to play Gabriel, who would it be and why?

Alex Pettyfer for sure because he's a very talented English actor... yada, yada, yada... Okay people, lets keep it real #LeSwoon .. #NuffSaid

If you had to pick ONE song that either represents you or your books, what song would you pick? (You can totally pick one for you and one for your books if you want!)

For Styclar— Imagine Dragons:Demons For me—Boyzone:Words

Where did Gabriel and Jonah come from? Any real life influences?

Gabriel and Jonah both possess qualities form my own bea :) He was a little more like Jonah when I met him (I was 16) and he's a little more like Gabriel now, but when I ask nicely he will still, from time to time, point his collar up ;)

ALSO, What do you love most about Jonah?

He's a bit rough around the edges, but give him a polish and he shines likes a diamond :)

And in case you haven't read Lailah yet. . . .

**Review**

5 out of 5 Stars

Kelly Elliott just has a way of making me feel at home when I read her books. No matter where I am, the words take me away to my home in the country. Kelly's books make me feel calm, peaceful, and whole. When I heard I was going to be a part of this blog tour I about almost had a heart attack. Then when I saw that I had the character interview I think I passed out and lost 5 seconds of my life. I am still beyond excited just writing this review for having the privilege of being on this tour.

So let me tell you a little bit about the amazing Colt. We have seen Colt (Ellie and Gunner's son) in the past books of the Love Wanted in Texas Series. He has always been lovingly staring at Lauren, always wanting her. I know for sure that he is the son of Gunner because Colt one-upped his dad in the romance department. Man that boy can swoon a girl. I have no idea how Lauren could have avoided him for so long. He always loved Lauren from a distance. He tired to be with her but things never worked out for them in the past books.

Now Lauren is a cutie! She says "oh my glitter!" a lot and it grew on me after some time. It's funny that she says that but then follows it with a bunch of curse words. Her sayings are also cute and sweet. I loved the one she told to her mom. I was cracking up haha. As a matter of fact I still am. This is what she said, "That's why he is the pop to my cherry." It was funny to watch that between Jessie and Lauren. It shows how close they are.

There will always be one character that will always try to put off the relationship. Ugh it is frustrating some times because after all that they have seen in the past you would think that they would have learned from all their parents' and friends' experience. I am just glad that Lauren made the move to pursue Colt at Luke and Libby's wedding.

From then on their relationship is sickeningly sweet, something I think Grace would say. They are so perfect for each other and Colt continues to swoon Lauren with all this actions and words. I loved watching their relationship play out. The scene with Mr. Snuggles was one of my favorites because these girls always know who they are going to marry at such young ages.

I love being able to look at the other characters lives. I especially love Grace and her appearances. Also, I love that little tutorial Grace had! That was one of my favorite scenes all time! I couldn't stop laughing the whole time! Grace makes me laugh but she made me feel extremely sad for her in this book. It hurt to know she was hurting so much because of Noah. That little sneak peak at the end of this book was torture! I have been waiting for their story since the very beginning when Noah and Grace bumped into each other. I am ready Finding You! September can't come any faster.

**Character Interview**

Hey everyone! I am Tanya from T & G Book Boutique and I am beyond excited to have this chance to interview Lauren and Colt.

Tanya: Don’t tell the others but you are lucky to have Colt in your life Lauren, he is the most romantic man ever! No offense to the other guys but Colt you melted my heart with the things you did and said to Lauren.

What is the most romantic thing Colt has done for you Lauren?

Blushing, Lauren peeks at Colt through her eyelashes.

“Hmm, gosh he has done so many romantic things for me. I’d have to say the time he filled one of the stalls in my father’s barn with white lights and sat on top of my new horse, Romeo, and declared he would forever love me more than Romeo. It was something so simple, yet made me feel so very special.”

Tanya: Lauren, at Libby and Luke’s wedding, what made you finally decide to go to Colt? Would you change anything?

Shaking her head, Lauren takes a deep breath before talking.

“Tired of fighting my feelings for Colt was one of the main reasons. I was watching all of my friends around me get their happily ever after, and I was finished with putting my on hold because of my own fears and insecurities. Would I change anything? No. I believe everything we do in this life happens for a reason. The choices we make whether good or bad, lead us ultimately down the road that makes us the person we are today.”

Tanya: This question is for both of you. What is the most important thing to have in your relationship?

Colt: “Love.”

Lauren: “Totally. If you don’t have love … what do you have?”

Tanya:  What is your favorite thing about each other?

Colt and Lauren both look at each other and smile.

Colt: “I love Lauren’s smile. It can brighten the darkest day. The moment she smiles at me I know nothing in that moment could ever get better than this.”

Lauren: “Oh my glitter. That’s a hard one. I have so many things that are my favorites. His smile, those baby blues, and the way he holds me in his arm. His compassion for other people. I’ve never met anyone who takes every single persons feelings into account.”

Tanya: Lauren, tell me why horses and being a part of your daddy’s business is so important?

“Oh my gosh, it’s my entire life. From the time I can remember, I’ve loved horses. Being around them, working with them, learning about them. Watching my father work while I grew up, I think I knew from a very early age I wanted to be a part of Daddy’s business. It’s a huge part of who I am.”

Tanya: Colt, did you always know that you didn’t want to be a part of your dad’s business but instead be a part of Scott’s? Why?

“I love the cattle ranch with all my heart, but horses have always been my thing. Kind of like what Lauren said, I can remember being little and I was supposed to be helping my father with the cattle. Instead I was over with the horses, pulling open their mouths and trying to see what their teeth looked like. Placing my ear to a pregnant mares stomach and trying to see if I could ‘hear’ anything. Horses have always fascinated me.”

Tanya: Colt, being at the hospital, what were your thoughts and fears?

Colt glances over to Lauren and takes her hand. “That I would lose Lauren. That was my biggest fear.”

Tanya: Lauren, did you like the sudden trip to Vegas or did you regret not having your friends there?

Smiling, Lauren shakes her head.

Lauren: No, no regrets at all. Colt and I followed our hearts. When you follow your heart I don’t think you will ever have regrets. Our friends completely understood our reason and supported us.”

*Grace walks in after snooping on Lauren’s answer*

Grace: “Would have been nice to have been there though. Just sayin’. I mean I was the one who gave you that little push in the first place that got you and Mr. Lover Boy together.”

Tanya: Grace! Just the person I was hoping would be bold enough to interfere! I am sure all of us are dying to know more about you and Noah. Care to share anything about your little misunderstanding with him?

Letting out a chuckle, Grace shook her head while pointing her finger at Tanya.
Grace: “Oh no you don’t. Nope. You’re not getting anything out of me!”

Tanya: Aww man! At least I tried. So, Lauren and Colt, I have two last questions for you.

What is your favorite memory of each other and what do you expect your future to be like?

Colt and Lauren gaze at each other as they both smile.

Colt: The first time Lauren told me she loved me. It was probably the best day of my life.

Lauren: The first kiss. The first time Colt kissed me, truly kissed me and filled my body with passion and love. I knew my life would never be the same.

Leaning over, Colt gently kisses Lauren on the lips and whispers, “I love you.”

Pulling back from each other, Lauren lets out a giggle.

Lauren: “I’m thinking our future is going to be filled with lots of laughing.”

Colt: “And lot’s of kissing!”

Laughing, Lauren nods her head. “And probably a baby…”

Colt: “Or two.”
