The Legacy - MELISSA DELPORT
One man obsessed with power.
One woman prepared to sacrifice everything to stop him.
One war that changed the world.
"World War Three lasted twelve days. Twelve days was al it took for mankind to devastated the planet and almost eradicate the human race. No victor emerged from the ashes and billions lost their lives.
We survivors lived through the bleakest of winters. A primal existence became the new order, and the little that remained of our humanity hung in the balance.
Then one man stood up and changed the world. I believed, as did everyone else, that he was the hero of our time, the man who saved us from our own demise. His name is Eric Dane and he is the President of the New United States of America.
He is also my husband, and my greatest enemy.
I grew up oblivious to the truth, until my father found me when I was nineteen years old. He told me about the many horrifying facts that our new leader kept hidden from us. And he told me that beyond the orders the Resistance grew and fought for the freedom from the oppression that Eric Dane had imposed on us.
My name is Rebecca Davis. I am twenty-six years old, and in me the Resistance has found the ultimate weapon."
A narrative of good and evil, love and passion, right and wrong- and at the centre of the story as strong woman who is prepared to sacrifice everything for the cause she believes in.
The Legacy is and action-packed, adrenalin-inducing thrill ride which will leave you riveted long after you have turned the last page.

“I was driving
home from work when inspiration struck, and a storyline started unravelling in
my head. For a few days it was all I could think about and eventually I
realised that the only way to get it out of my head, was to put it all down on
paper. I started writing, and that was that.”

Review
4.6 out of 5 stars
The Legacy was not at all what I was expecting. Although the
beginning was necessary to explain some history it didn’t interest me in the
book. The beginning seemed to drag and lack some luster. I found myself not
really looking forward to the rest of the book. I think if the beginning were
written differently it would have been more captivating. Once I got past the
beginning, that’s when I was like “whoa wait a minute this book is getting
really good”! The main character Rebecca Davis is the wife of the Eric Dane the
President of the New United States. The big deal about this is that it was
planned this way so the Resistance could take him down. Rebecca’s husband is
her greatest enemy and in the end she must kill him before he kills her. This
is the tricky part though because they have been married for quite some time
now but she can’t kill him without exposing him to the people or then he will
be seen as a martyr. I like how this has been planned for a long time and it is
not just some all of a sudden, come out of no-where attack plan. It was thought
out which only made the suspense even more thrilling. This plan is very risky
and it had me chewing my lip and tapping my foot with the uncertainty because
she can get caught at any minute! I seriously couldn’t stop worrying about
Rebecca every time she would spy or do something for the Resistance. I could
actually feel her heart beating with mine, scared. The anticipation of what
would happen is what I loved about this book, even though it had my heart
racing crazily at all times! Rebecca was a well thought out character, I really
liked her and her personality. She knew the risks of she was taking when she
volunteered for the marriage, but she did it anyways because she thought the
lives of many others was worth more than just one, her own. She is so
courageous , and I felt it so much it made me want to be brave in all aspects of
my life too. And let me tell you about my favorite part of the book! Well it’s
actually a he but anyways I loved him ever since he was introduced. Reed had my
heart since the very beginning even though I hate that he is a player. He is
sweet when he wants to be and he is protective of Rebecca even though she is
more than capable of taking care of herself. Since Reed came later in the book
I liked Aiden first because he was so important to Rebecca and he did
everything he could for her but ever since I first saw Reed, Aidan was all but
forgotten in my mind (sorry Aidan but Reed is my man). So enough about boys in
the story lets get back to the action. I thought the events that happened in
the book were well written and planned and I am glad that it slowly builds
towards it. It wasn’t all just thrown in your face leaving you sorting out the
details. It gave you some time to understand everything. What I found
interesting when it was introduced was the extra abilities that were made to
create and ultimate soldier but of course that has its limits well for some. It
reminded me a lot of Exceptional in that aspect. I liked how this was
incorporated because it made the story different. Overall the book got better
with each page I turned. It just kept me wanting more and more! The ending is
what got me though. It kind of surprised me and left me with doubts as to what
Eric said (which you will find out once you read it). This got me thinking that
I needed the next book to find out. This is definitely a book that should be on
your to be read pile.
