Savor Release Day and Review (Empire Chronicles #4)

SAVOR is a New Adult Paranormal Romance and the fourth book in The Empire Chronicles Series. SAVOR will be releasing April 30, 2015.

About SAVOR:

Jared is Vera's perfect man—until he opens his mouth. An incredible body and set of wings can only go so far when everything he says seems designed to make her mad. Still, she can't deny her intense attraction or the fact that he is the closest thing she has to a friend.

Jared doesn't go for bear shifters, especially ones that are related to his ex, but he can't resist Vera's charm or the way she understands him better than anyone else.

As suspicions build and loyalties are tested, Vera and Jared realize that they may not be able to trust anyone but each other.

Review

4.5 out of 5 stars

Let me start with the amazing cover. I love it so much. Once I read the book I understand it completely and it depicts Savor perfectly. Savor was sooo not what I was expecting. I know what to expect from Alyssa Rose Ivy's books but this one blew me away. Alyssa Rose Ivy has a way with the paranormal world and I loved that this book had more of Norco (the Ursus bears homeland) and had so much more crazy going on. Ah! I can't even express most of this because then it would be too many spoiler alerts but I will share as much as I can.

Let's do a little recap from the previous book as to how Jared and Vera are going to end up together in this book. Jared and Vera have a lot of tension going on. They always have since the moment they first me. When Jared is betrayed by both his father and his brother and he discovers that Vera's mom knows about his mother they both go on the journey to Norco together. Vera hasn't seen her mother since she ran away so she has some issues to work out as well. I like the paired up to do this together because their relationship is one of the best.

Jared and Vera are so alike it is uncanny. It is like one knows what the other is thinking. I love it! Both of them are not really into settling down and to watch them bicker with each other is amazing.

"Mom laughed. "Are you sure you two aren't involved?"
"No," we both said at once.
That made her laugh harder: "Well then maybe you should be.
The tension between you two...well let's say I haven't seen worse."

They are so good together and although they both don't admit it they like each other and they want to be in each others lives. I saw a lot of sweet sides to Jared in this book. It is nice to see coming this from the playboy. Vera has a strong character and her and Jared clash sometimes but I think they are perfect for each other. They can keep each other on their toes.

Ok moving on to Norco. So they get to Norco and they meet Vera's mom and Gareth (Vera's real father). This whole situation seems simple at first but boy do not be fooled. Something big is coming. I felt it because Gareth seemed to be hiding something. Jared is involved. Vera is involved. New characters are introduced. The whole situation is crazy! I always think Alyssa Rose Ivy can't make the new books more crazy than the previous ones but I am wrong each time. As the series goes on more craziness occurs. I love it but these people are always having to face bigger problems!

So I can't really talk about this "big" crazy thing but just be prepared. This will give you more insight into the paranormal world which I am always excited to learn more about. As you Alyssa Rose Ivy fans should already know, be ready for a cliffy. Her books always have them but I think with her I know to expect it so it makes me anticipate her next book even more. I don't think I have ever wanted the next book as much as I want this one! Have fun enjoying this book because it will not disappoint!

SAVOR Excerpt:

Excerpt
“I’m glad you don’t want me dead.” He smirked. Even his smirk was sexy.
“I’d be on my own if you were.” I put my hands behind my head.
“And you don’t like being alone?” He studied me in the darkness. Sometimes I wished neither of us had night vision. It left you so naked, never having an opportunity to hide.
“I do most of the time.”
“But not always?” His eyes raked over my body. The fact that he could make such a platonic conversation feel sexual gave me even more reason to resist him.
“Why does it matter?” Often the best way to avoid a question is to ask your own.
“It matters because I asked it.” And there went his mouth again.
My annoyance gave me back my will power. “Put a shirt on.”
“Why?” He grinned. “Am I distracting you?”
“No, but we should go. The sun will be up soon enough.”
“Maybe I shouldn’t go with you.” He sat up, swinging his legs off the side of the bed.
“No way.” I moved to standing. “You’re not backing out.”
“Why do you care?” He stood with his back to me. “You can do this alone.”
“Of course I can.”
He turned to me. “Then why does it matter if I go my own way?” He pulled on his t-shirt, and a little part of me missed the view.
“Because we agreed to help each other out. I stick to my promises.” That was one of my good traits. The not so good traits weren’t worth reflecting on.
“Maybe I don’t.”
“You do.” I put a hand on my hip. I didn’t have time for Jared’s games.
“How do you know?”
“I just do.”
“You’re infuriating.”
I groaned. “And what are you?”
“Charming.”
If I’d had liquid in my mouth I would have spit it out. “Not exactly the word I’d use to describe you.”
“Says the girl begging me to stay with her.”
“I never begged.” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“Would you beg?” His grin was his undoing.
“Is that how you like it, Jared? With your women begging?”
“I wasn’t talking about how I like my women.”
“Are you sure about that?” I grabbed my backpack and headed into the cabin’s small bathroom.
“Where are you going?”
I paused with my hand on the door. “To shower.”
