[ Blogiversary ] Author Interview: Alyson Reynolds

Author Interview: Alyson Reynolds
Hello everyone lets welcome Alyson Reynolds to T & G Book Boutique! I am really excited to have you here with us today! Ok, lets get started by asking you some questions!

First off, tell us a little bit about yourself!
Hi guys! I’m a stay at home mom of two. I’ve been married for eight years this month, and I live in a small town in Oklahoma. My first novel, Relentless, came out in April and since then I’ve published one other last month. I have a standalone novella that comes out July 12th. I spend most of my time either chasing around my kids, reading or writing.

What got you into writing?
I’ve written small things since I was little, but I first decided I wanted to publish after my husband pushed me. When I started staying at home last year I needed an outlet, so I wrote. I finished Restless in ten days and put it away until my husband found it a few months later. He’s been my biggest cheerleader.

Tell us a little bit about your books.
My Relentless Series novels are about a group of girls that grew up together, but now they are facing life as it comes at them. Each novel centers around a different individual. I’ve had the entire series in my head for almost two years and every book has at least half of it written at this point.

What gets your mind reeling? Where does your inspiration come from?
I have based entire novels on songs. My taste in music is eclectic and I love putting my phone on shuffle and letting my mind go where it wants when I’m writing. There’s post-it notes all over my desk with different ideas that have came to me while I’m writing a different story.

What do you enjoy doing?
Besides reading and writing, I really enjoy cooking. Luckily, I’m pretty good at it too. Otherwise that could be dangerous.

Tell us an embarrassing story?! I always love asking this question because it gives us a good laugh.
My family is from South Carolina. We just took our first family vacation out there so we have been recounting stories of when I was a kid to my kiddos because they like know they’ve been where I grew up. Here’s their favorite one which is embarrassing as hell even though it happened 25 years ago.So when I was 5 my mom, my aunt and cousins and me all packed up to go to the beach one day. We stopped by Bojangles to get fried chicken to take with us for a picnic. Me being a stubborn brat decided I was going to go put my feet in the water while I ate my biscuit even though my mom told me it was a bad idea. What I didn’t realize is that seagulls are like attack dogs when they see food. They chased me up and down the coast while I dodged them and my mom screamed at me to throw the food and run. My aunt and my cousins were dying laughing of course. To this day I hate all birds. I’m absolutely terrified of them and my family sees fit to remind me about it all the time.

If you had to pick between reading or writing what would you choose?
I would choose reading. I learned to read at 4. My parents instilled the love of reading early and I couldn’t ever live without it.

Tell us one weird or interesting thing about you?
One interesting thing...I’m adopted and my husband and I adopted our kids. We decided a few years ago that passing along our genetic code wasn’t important to us, so in a very unconventional step we decided to foster. In December of 2014 we finalized the adoption.

If you had to be alone in a deserted island what book would you take with you? Only one is allowed and no kindles! I know, I am cruel, but this is important. I want to know what book you would never get bored of.
Cruel is right! :) This is really hard, but it would be Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie. I’ve read it a million times and my paperback is all torn to shreds. I’ll probably read it a million more. She’s my go to author when I need something funny and light, but still extremely well written.

Thank you for hanging out with us Alyson. It was fun! It was fun getting to know you better.
