One life-changing summer. One boy.The boy.The boy who offered me safe touches and heart-stopping smiles - smiles he shared with his son.We filled our days with porch-step kisses, filled our ears with laughter, filled our hearts with love.Deep, soul-aching, desperate love. But love is misleading. It’s an invisible, fleeting moment.Somewhere between false adoration and pure hatred comes an emotion, a vulnerable need, a single desire. It lives within the ones who miss it, who crave it,who know better than to expect it.Love is relentless.Even when that love turns to hate, turns to loathing, turns to pain.Love should heal you.But it can also break you.Believe me, I know…Because I'm Becca Owens - a broken girl……And he's Josh Warden - the boy who broke me.
Review
Coast is a book that has left me so fulfilled I could burst. All my bottled up feelings that I had at the end of Kick, Push disintegrated into a million pieces. Coast put them all back together, it melded my shattered heart. Let me begin by telling you that you need to experience this book. While reading Coast I couldn't breathe, as if I couldn't grasp enough air. My tears, the heavy emotions, and the words written by Jay McLean had me suffocating. I couldn't handle this book. I was so submerged in this world that it was painful. I was seeing through the characters eyes. Every word I read had feeling.
While I was angry and devastated for Becca, I knew what she did was right. I knew that she needed to live her life and get help while doing it. She transformed into an amazing character in Coast, that doesn't mean she wasn't good in KP, it's just that she became a stronger person. I love that about Becca. She took what she loved and she did something with it. The love for photography was powerful in this book and I adored that. Becca struggled in this book but by the end she was incredible.
Josh, gah, he was a little cocky in this book and I LOVED that. He was adorable and I just fell a lot harder for him in this book. In this book he finally has his dream but right away you can tell that it means nothing if he doesn't have the person he loves by his side. Josh becomes my hero in this book. He takes on some hardships that are sad but he comes out strong. His dedication to Becca was also very endearing and it captured me. These two were meant for each other.
Coast captured by heart, body, and soul and I couldn't have asked for a better story. While most of the book had me struggling for breath, by the end of Coast I had enough air to set me free. By the end my heart was high and so incredible happy. Jay McLean has added one more book to my favorite collection. This book has me ready #COAST.
