[Review] Bait & Switch by Kendall Ryan

Title: Bait & Switch
Author: Kendall Ryan
Date Released: February 9, 2016
Format: e-ARC
Rating: 4 stars

Love is a trap, a trick only other people fall for. Former Navy SEAL Nolan has no such illusions. The only things real in his life are his beloved bulldog and the two women in his life. One is soft and innocent, someone he could build a real future with. But the other is dark and gives him all of the wicked things he craves behind closed doors. What starts out as casual quickly becomes complicated. Can he walk away from a sure thing for something that's foreign territory? Nolan thinks we met by chance. We didn’t. I sought him out, seduced him, and in return got the sanctuary I needed to survive. But now, impossibly, I’ve fallen in love with him. I don’t care that he has another lover, because when he finds out who I am, it’s going to ruin any chance I ever had with him anyway. She’s the least of my worries. Bait & Switch is Book 1 in the new contemporary romance series Alphas Undone, which will each feature a new couple. This is a standalone full-length novel. It does not contain cheating.

My Thoughts

Bait & Switch is the perfect combination of mystery plus steam. It had me quick on my toes trying to guess what would happen. I would have never predicted right because the story was unpredictable. It had my heart pumping because I knew the main character was hiding something. She had a big secret but we don’t find out what it is until the end.
Lacey is running from something and she ends up in a small town in Texas trying to escape her big secret. She happens to find the perfect man until she discovers that his ways are unconventional. Nolan is not the type of guy to do relationships but Lacey brings out his inner curiosity. They both give it a go but things turn out way more complicated than expected.

Nolan is the type of guy that captured my attention early on. His way of doing things were different from other characters I have read. He seemed like the Alpha type but I soon learned he was more than I gave him credit for. Nolan is a complete selfless sweetheart. The thing that attracted me the most to him was that he has this vulnerable side. He loves dogs. The way he took in his pet was sweet and it added the perfect amount of sweet to his alpha persona.

Lacey was pretty much a mystery throughout the book. I knew she was hiding and running from something but I had no clue what that was. She was a great character but I didn’t connect much to her. I don’t know what it was but there was no connection. I have little to say about her other than she is a very strong and brave person.

Bait & Switch was the perfect combination I was looking for. It left me wanting more And more I shall get because a character that popped up in this books is getting his very own story! I am excited for this one because Grayson was a very complicated fellow and I want to meet him!

  1. It is a good deal! I've tried their lip balms but not their other skincare items. :)
