THE BLOOD SCION Blurb:

I was just a reporter, trying to stay ahead of my student loans. I knew the rules, and I followed them. I thought I knew how the world worked—humans lived their petty little lives in the safety of the sun. We loved and fought and—when the sun sank—we scurried behind our walls and lived in fear. That is when the monsters came out to play. And even in the safety of the sun, we knew who ruled us. The Houses. And their Scions. Everyone knows the great Houses and their Scions—they are feared and loved and hated and envied. They are the gods who walk the shadows and rule all of our lives. They are salvation and death. And somehow, I am one of them.

Review

4 out of 5 Stars

The Blood Scion was unlike anything I have ever read before. Sure it was about vampires but the whole concept of this book was unique. Nazarea Andrews did an amazing job with The Blood Scion and the buildup. The book was steady throughout but then all of a sudden it started climbing until what I was waiting for finally happened.

Let me explain a little bit about the vampires. The vampires existence is known to the humans. They found out after a plague overtook them and the vampires had to save them. So the vampires belong to different houses. Each vampire has a Patriarch and the vampires who were created by the vampires are Princes or Princess. The human advisor who is equal and protected is the Scion. That is the basic info but if you read the book it will make more sense. It took a while for me to get it because it was a lot of info but I was able to understand.

Now lets talk about the characters. I found Farley (MC) to be a very strong character. I liked that she stood up for herself, she wasn't easily pushed around. I don't even know how to explain what she is. It is complicated. She is human but she serves vampires. As the story unfolds you learn more about this.

Now the two guys in the series are great! It is a forbidden romance type of thing. So one vampire is named Octavian and he is a Vampire Prince but he is also the Blade (assassin) and protector of the Scion. He is to protect Farley but obviously not get into her pants. That is against the rules. So of course they really want each other! I like how the tension unfolded. It took a while but it was worth the wait! Now let me tell you, I really like O but I really fell in love with Sully. He was by far my favorite character. Something about him just drew me to him. He is cocky and arrogant but he is also kind. I fell in love with him!

The Blood Scion was good but I think the next book will be better. This was a lot of information and learning about the Vampire Houses. It was good but I wanted to see more action and romance. It was really steady until the end and that is when I was most excited. I want to read the next book to see where that will lead. I want more Sully!

THE SCIONLESS HOUSE Blurb:
Twelve Houses. Twelve vampire lines. We ruled from the shadows, and manipulated the world, and when humans came too close to destruction, we intervened. Every House has a Scion. A fragile, easily broken human that stood shoulder to shoulder with the house Princes and Princesses. Except for ours. The Ravens, House Cantelie. We've been without a Scion for almost fifteen years. But that will change...and her life will be mine to protect.
