Reason and Romance Jenn Young

Reason and Romance
Release Date: 12/09/14

Book Summary:
Being stuck in the godforsaken desert is Adrian Blake’s worst nightmare come true. Senior year is all about making fun memories. It’s not about starting over at a new school and navigating a new Brady Bunch family. It’s really not about living with a sexy, arrogant would-be stepbrother who knows how to push her buttons.

Alex Montgomery is the very definition of a player. The only thing he commits to is a one night stand. He’s exactly the kind of guy she hates. When she sleeps with him, it’s the biggest mistake of her life. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Not at school. Not at home.

Sometimes the best mistakes are the ones that you make over and over again…

Review

4 out of 5 stars

I was intrigued by this book since I read the summary. It reminded me a lot of the books Simone Elkeles writes, especially her book Perfect Chemistry. This book had a lot of spice and pride going on and I loved that. It starts off with Adrian and her two sisters moving to Arizona with their father because he wants to be with his new girlfriend. The woman he meets has three boys and they meet in the airport. I could see the tension right away between Adrian and Alex. I mean you can't ignore that they like each other right away even though they both try to hide that.

Adrian has a lot of issues within herself ever since her mother died. Her whole school judged her because in that fatal car accident her mother was caught with another guy. She has had issues with that ever since so when she starts at this new school she sees it as a new start. Alex tries to offer Adrian a chance to be in their group but she denies it and Alex says that she is going to have a hard time. We soon find out that what Alex said was true because he owns the school.

I can't really figure out a lot about Alex since this book is about Adrian and we get to see how she feels and what she thinks. What I do know is that Alex is the king of the school. He is arrogant, cocky, a know it all, and confident. Everyone looks up to him but they also envy him. The one thing I know for sure is that he is attracted to Adrian and he likes her even though he tries to deny it.

Since Alex is not offering Adrian protection anymore she has to find her own way. She stands up for herself and in turn is denied and outcasted by the school because of her little stunts. Even though it hurts her she does not show the school that. She acts tough and fights back. I like that she doesn't let the student body population bring her down. She is a tough girl but we still see her vulnerable and weak side.

The book continues to show us the attraction between Adrian and Alex and it becomes a game between them. They are trying to break each other down and make each other look bad in front of the school population. Neither of them will back down so they both have some major acting skills. The thing that I did not like about this book is that it ends badly. I don't get to know what happens so I have to wait until the next book to see who will break first. All in all it was a good book because it's fun and entertaining to watch these two fight their attraction towards one another. I really can't wait for the next book. I hope that Alex will be the one to break but we will see...
