Kara Marcus is desperate to forget the past and move on. But she can’t escape her choices—especially when she finds herself falling in love…
Since the first day she stepped into her childhood Southern Baptist church, two truths have been engrained in Kara Marcus’s head: sex before marriage is bad and murder is a sin. And that’s why Kara can never forgive herself for what she did at the age of sixteen.
Now, as second semester of freshman year comes to a close, Kara has stood by her high school boyfriend, Ethan. But as they seem to grow further and further apart every day, Kara realizes that she has feelings for someone else: Ethan’s roommate Colt.
Suddenly, Kara’s clear-cut world shifts out of focus, and she’s torn between what her head tells her is right and what her heart is desperately pushing her to do—even if it means committing another undeniable sin...

Review

Let me start off by saying I admire Melissa West sooo much! She is such an awesome writer. I'm so happy she decided to enter the territory of the New Adult genre. Pieces of Olivia was heartbreakingly beautiful, which is why I expected nothing less from Miles from Kara. I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into Kara's mind. In this book her friendship with Olivia is as strong as ever. We all have our issues, we're human, Kara is no exception. Something that occurred in her past continues to haunt her to present day. The hurt and guilt she carries is something almost tangible. You can almost feel her pain as if it was your own. Her relationship with her boyfriend isn't going so well either. She is in desperate need for a drastic change in her life. Ta ta da! Enter hot Aussie! Gah! Seriously, who does not love a boy with an accent? Colt is super sweet, charming, sexy... oh yeah, did I mention the accent? Right off the bat you can feel the connection these two have with one another. They are drawn to each other like a necklace is drawn to it's matching earrings. (Yup that legit) Kara is so strong mentally and emotionally. Throughout the book Kara faces internal struggles and learns to forgive and let go. I think it was the realism of the characters made this book that much better. Even if you are not in the same situation as them, you can definitely find something to connect with them. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next one in the series. I think I might know who it might be about ;)
