SYNOPSIS:
Every event
in our life causes a ripple effect that we never truly understand until the
waters calm and everything reveals itself. It’s in that moment we truly see…
Adam Ryker,
owner of Club Envy, has his rules. Relationships stay within the walls of the
club. Outside of that, people are merely acquaintances. After having his heart
broken, he’s not interested in the happily ever afters and white picket fences.
Adam’s interests lie in his club and giving pleasure to women.
Ainsley
Pearson wants to be free. She needs an escape from her life. Her best friend
suggests Club Envy. From the moment Ainsley sets foot in the club, Adam decides
he wants to be the exclusive one to bring her pleasure.
He wants
her.
He needs
her.
He has to
have her.
Adam finds
himself wanting more.
Will this
unforeseen ripple in Adam’s and Ainsley’s lives be too much to overcome? Or
will the one thing they never thought they deserved have an everlasting effect?
EXCERPT:
“Adam…”
Ainsley’s voice invaded my thoughts, but she wasn’t due here for
a bit.
“Adam?”
The bed dipped, and I felt a small hand on my arm. It was
Ainsley’s touch.
Hell, this is going to be the best dream I’ve had in ages.
“I’ll come back tomorrow. Sleep tight, Adam.”
Lips brushed my forehead and then the bed rose again. I heard
footsteps.
Shit, she’s really here. I pushed off the bed and
called out hoarsely, “Ainsley, wait.”
She stopped and turned. “It’s okay, Adam. I can come back later.
You’re exhausted. You need your rest.”
I kept blinking the haze away. She was in white capris that
hugged her slim figure, a tight blue T-shirt, and that damn pink wig.
Hot. As. Hell.
She played with the ring on her right finger. I was pretty sure
that meant she was unsure of something.
Shit, I don’t want her to be unsure about staying with me.
I did the first thing that came to mind. I walked straight up to
her and started kissing her. The small gasp right before my lips touched hers,
told me she hadn’t expected me to come after her like this. Her body needed to
take over her brain that was probably telling her that I didn’t care if she
were here or not. That was the furthest thing from the truth. Her being here
with me was all that I had thought about through the day.
Ainsley opened her mouth in shock, and I took advantage by
pushing my tongue inside. By her rigid posture, I could tell she was still
thinking with her brain. It was obvious when she let the moment take over. She
became clay in my hands as her body took control. I needed her in that place,
so she wouldn’t try to leave right now.
I need this. I want her.
About the Author:
Kristin
Mayer is a wife, a proud mother, and a full-time Analyst and Import Manager.
Since an early age, she has always enjoyed reading and writing. While visiting
her father one weekend, he suggested that she should take up writing again.
With family and a career, she didn’t give it a lot of thought, until a story
entered her mind and wouldn’t leave. It just kept forming and developing over a
couple of months.
At the beginning of 2013, she decided to sit down and write it all down, but she kept it to herself. One sentence developed into two, and before she knew it, she had the makings of a novel.
Kristin tries to live life to the fullest during every moment. She loves to travel and meet new people. She holds a degree in International Business and uses it daily in her job. Kristin now adds “author” on her list of jobs, and feels very blessed and thankful.

Author Interview
Tell me about Ripple Effect. How did you come up
with the story?
Ripple Effect is
about how events in our lives transpire and cause different things to happen to
us, whether it be too scared to love after being hurt or afraid you’re not good
enough to love which is the case in Adam and Ainsley’s story. They both have
things from their past that hold them back from giving someone their whole
heart or have self-doubt about being able to be loved.
Ripple Effect actually
came from my Trust Series. In the
last book, Promise Me, Adam is
briefly in the book a few times. Those few times I wrote Adam, I fell in love
with him and knew I had to tell his story.
Ripple Effect is
different from my other series. It’s written in both Adam and Ainsley’s point
of view. It’s rawer than the Trust Series
where it comes to fully understanding what is going on in both of the
characters heads. They have to work for their love and overcome various
“hurdles” that life throws out them.
Since Ripple Effect takes place in a sex club, the intimate scenes in
this are more carnal before the relationship develops.
I think this line from the book
sums up the underlying meanings that are expressed throughout. Every event in our life causes a ripple
effect that we never truly understand until the waters calm and everything
reveals itself. In that moment, we truly see.
Can you describe Adam and Ainsley’s personalities?
Adam comes across as a hard
ass. He has a tough outer shell with a sweet core. Ainsley sees that side of
him and she brings it out in Adam. Rules, rules, rules and more rules govern
Adam’s sexual life and professional life. This accomplishes a few different things
for him: Keeps relationships from happening and he maintains control. For
instance, he only has sex in his club to keep attachments from happening. Adam
was hurt badly and this is self-preservation mechanism. He’s loyal to a fault
to his true friends and his club is one of his top priorities.
Ainsley has a soft side, but is
independent. She’s afraid to lean on anyone too much with what has happened to
her growing up. Love seems like a foreign concept, but she wants it. The
problem is she doesn’t have any type of role model to go by when it comes to
love. Ainsley is strong and doesn’t allow anyone to walk over her regardless of
how much she may love the person.
It’s these characteristics in
both Adam and Ainsley that complement each other, allowing them to find their
way through the storm.
Were there any traits, looks, behaviors, etc. that you took
from people in your life that you incorporated into your main characters?
This book didn’t have many
traits, etc. from people in my life. It had more of instances. Adam receives
the nickname manfriend, which came from one of my best-friends who called her
boyfriend that name. It makes me laugh each time I hear it.
Where were you when the idea for this book came to you?
I had finished one of the
flashbacks in Promise Me that had
Adam in it and then had gone for a run. The song “Let Her Go” came on my iPod and I started
thinking about Adam. From there the story unfolded in my head.
Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was
it?
Every time I sit down to write
a book, I learn more and more. This time around, considering the subject matter
of the book…I received what felt like an education. Ha-ha!
What odd quirks do you have/do while writing?
Hmm…about the only thing I can
think of is that I have the T.V. on in the background. I don’t write to music.
I do write while a familiar movie comes on that I’ve seen a million times.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your
writing process?
I’m dual-careered. I’m a wife,
mother, analyst by day and an author by night. Balancing my time between all
the different aspects can be incredibly overwhelming. But I love both my jobs
and couldn’t imagine leaving either one. It all seems to work out thought which
I’m thankful for. It seems like I’m able to have the best of all worlds even
though it may mean not a lot of sleep at times. ;)
What are you reading right now? Are there any authors that
you would name as influences?
I’m actually not reading right
now. When I write, I don’t read since my time is limited to after 8 p.m. at
night. I just finished the next book in The
Effect Series, Domino Effect, which is Brandt and Nikola’s story. After
finishing Domino Effect, I did read Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward. I’m now starting my next
standalone novel, Dissipate that will
be coming out in 2015 after Domino
Effect. I do miss reading and hope to get far enough ahead in writing that
I can go on a book binge.
Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
There are so many new authors
that I’ve one-clicked because their book look incredible that I hope to one day
get to read. J
What is the best thing about being an author?
There are two things…Being able
to express a story that’s in our head on paper and then seeing the finished
product and the readers. Oh how I love my readers. They are what make it
possible to keep doing what I love dearly.
Who should read your books? What kind of reader?
All my books are mature and
intended for the adult audience. I take real life situations and thread it
within my characters’ lives. They are stories of puzzle pieces fitting together
as the characters find their way through life’s troubles.
Of all the characters of which you have written, which is
the one that has captured your heart?
Brandt and Nikola’s story in Domino Effect which doesn’t come out
until 2015. Their story made me laugh, cry, sob, smile, dance and be filled
with hope. It is the most personal story I have ever written and has a lot of
me within the book…more so than I ever thought would be put down on paper.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your
readers about Ripple Effect?
I am beyond grateful for the
response it has received. My readers are beyond phenomenal. I cannot express my
gratitude enough to each and every one of you guys for what you do to me. My
heart bursts with joy when I think about it.
Once again, thank you so much!
Thank you for having me.
